No recent experience ?

Published

Hello fellow RN's..

I have extensive hospital experience in practically all departments, however because I have been off or work for 4 years, and hospitals require recent experience, I cannot find a job.

Hospitals are my love and forte.. Any suggestions/ insights out there ?

Thank you.. Caterina

Refresher courses?

Definitely, seek out a refresher course! That will make your resume' stand up strong with the rest. There's another similar thread somewhere around here, and I mentioned I had an almost 3 year 'break' and worried a ton that I'd be rusty, but when it came down to it, so much came 'back' and quite easily. It's hard to get the attention of a recruiter though, who may have never had the experience of a 'break' and coming back.

Also, if they are available, look for RN residency positions in your area. They train brand new RNs and old battle axes as well. All you need is your RN and professional references to 'qualify', as experience is not required for these positions. Good luck and welcome back :)
