No "cost of living" ("market") raise this year!!!

U.S.A. Colorado

The facility I work at has decided not to give us the annual "market" increase this year! They said the market doesn't warrent an increase. They have not provided their research and suggest we do our own. According to the posts at this site, new grads are making $21-24 ph. Considering that the market increase is the only way us loyal and experienced nurses can continue to make at least the same as the new grads, I can't see how it isn't warrented.

If there's any Denver area nurses out there willing to share? Please answer the following so I can help our nurses get what we deserve. No offense to you new grads, take what you can get and please provide your input as well.

Thanks to all!

Current Base pay?

Annual market increase (if so, what %)?

I'm not a nurse yet but I've been talking with a lot of HR departments (looking for shadowing and intern positions) and many are very open with their pay scales. You can also check the online job searches, most list hourly wages. I've been given numbers from Denver Health, Exempla, HealthOne, and Banner. The average of those (for new grads) is about 24.21/h base plus 1.75 to 5/h diff for eve/noc/we. The facility I'm currently hoping to work at will be 29.70/h with diffs (I plan to work noc & we). I haven't thought to ask about market increases, thanks for bringing it up.

I don't know if this helps you at all but I thought I'd put in my :twocents:

I am in a northern front range community - my facility gave a 4.2% 'market increase' in Dec. to RN's. They are scared of losing us to denver hospitals. What type of facility do you work for?
