If you are living in Michigan and want to work there, you will need to get a license for that state as well. Perhaps you are not being hired because you do not have a license in the state of Michigan. Just a thought.

If there are obvious flaws with an applicant (in your case trying to work in Michigan without a Michigan license) many employers will just file away your job application without a second thought. You should get your Michigan license without any further delay.

Have you ever thought of moving to California? I moved here and found work immediately!

First, you cannot legally work in Michigan without a license from Michigan.
Second, are you a legal American citizen, or do you have the legal permits to work in the USA. If you do not, there is an obvious impediment to getting a job here. And with retrogression in effect, no rapid solution.

The big issue is that Michigan requires that you take the CGFNS exam to endorse there. No way around that requirement. And you will not find an employer there if you do not have a license there already or one pending.
MI will not even look at your application until you have the CGFNS exam completed.
You can have a license in 20 different states, but if you do not have the CGFNS exam, and have no actual work experience in the US, you will not get the license in MI. You need to follow their requirements if you wish to work there.
I would focus on getting that exam done, or moving to another state. You are the one that needs to make the final decision as to what to do.
