Why won't the union stick to the issues that the union was organized to address in the first place? Cognitive dissonance is a terribly uncomfortable thing for me, and I am steeped in it right now as I read about NNOC/NNU sending delegates to political events and lobbying for political causes which I do not support. I want my union dues to go solely to fighting for better, safer patient care and protecting nurses from disciplinary action in the face of arbitrary policies and unsafe ratios.

I'm just jealous that you get to have a union. In the south we can't even say the "u" word. Maybe one day! Pick and choose your battles.

Americans have a right to join any organization that they wish. it is a Constitutional Right. Why do workers not stand up and demand their rights?

Employers lost their right to enslave individuals in the Civil War.They merely replaced slaves with employees.

WVa too! Man i dont know why we cant stand up for ourselves. I like

to think of it as psychological war fare. You have no idea the extent to which employers will go to in order to supress workers. I mean seriously. I wanted to do a documentary about it. Words can not even describe what its like to work as a nurse in the south. You just have to be there and experience it to know. And when you have kids to feed and bills to pay its hard.

Alot of it is politics. Organized labor has bottomed out. Not just nurses. Overall union numbers are down. There have been several court rulings against unions in recent years. Due to lobbyist and super groups that cock block organized labor at every corner. Its funny you bring up the constitution. Because that is exactly the arguement anti labor group used. And they won. But shout out to NNU for their recent win in Wva. I have said for the past few years that nurses are going to bring back organized labor in this country. Because there are hundreds of thousands piss off over worked under paid mis treated nurses. So lets get to work! Making them waves. Who ever said dont rock the boat obviously was not a nurse. Drops mic. Steps off soapbox. Lol
