No, being currently employed is not necessary. So long as you have at least 1 year experience as a nurse (which will be reflected in your reference forms), you can proceed with your NMC application.

Yep, my agency is also Alliance International. Which hospital are you in? I'm with the Peterborough and Stamford Hospital.

I was put on queue last Aug. 19. I'm really hoping that we have our DL within this month. I think there are already several of us for Barts who are just waiting for our DLs. I'm actually keeping in touch with some.

Sorry, but I'm not yet allowed to send private messages, so I'll just have my reply here if you don't mind. I think we really need the luck of that someone you know who received his/her DL in just a matter of four weeks time. LOL. We are almost on our seventh week, so I'm really hoping that we will have the good news anytime soon (maybe this week?). I'm really keeping my hopes high with this matter. By the way, are you frequently ringing up NMC? I'm planning to call them up later, just to let them know I'm freaking tired of waiting. LOL

I'm still wondering how you received my reply via private messaging. Right after I clicked the send button for my reply there was a notification saying that I'm not allowed to send private messages, that's why I posted another reply on the page. Anyways, you must have been feeling really upset with the delays on your NMC application. But it's good you're still keeping up the fight. We must not give up on this one. Good things come to those who wait. In your case, the waiting is too much, so the best thing must be on its way. Let's be optimistic. It will be this week.

Hi there! Today Sept 8 is actually my 60th day of waiting for my DL that's why I'm getting more anxious. I called them up to ask for updates but to add up to my dismay, they told me that the counting of days doesn't include their holidays and weekends! Now that's insanely disappointing as I was earlier expecting that I could have mine in 10 days time. =( I really hope I could receive mine (and yours too) since Nov 5 is getting closer, we all know what that means. =(
As for the COS, it is being issued monthly, every 11th of the month after their monthly conferences. COS backlogs from the previous month is one of the probable reasons why we keep waiting til now. They did not inform me right away when they put me on queue. I don't think they do it anyway. So, i tried sending them an email asking if my application is already on assessment. They responded a week after. That's how I got the confirmation from them. I really hope our DL would arrive soon. As far as I can remember Barts is expecting for us this month or next.
