According to the NMC PDF article for nurses trained outside of the EU:
The applicant must have completed either:
•
a three-year (or equivalent) pre-registration children's nursing training programme, or
a 12-month post-registration children's nursing training programme after completing a general nursing programme that meets our requirements
I have worked for 15 years as a neonatal RN, in an NICU for 12 of those years. I took a BSN program in nursing but we don't have specialty training programs such as they describe. Does this mean that I will have to apply as an adult RN? I haven't cared for adults since nursing school, and am certainly not up on the latest research. I think that would just be dangerous. Not to mention the fact that I probably could not pass their exams. Am I misunderstanding something?

Nurses outside of EU will be clustered based on education not on experience... So yes you will start adult nursing... And you will pass the exams.. The questions are basic nursing skills which surely you know of... Need not to worry...

I'm a 13 year Paeds Nurse from Canada and I was told I have to register as a General Nurse. I was told that that won't limit you working in the area you have been working in for so long. As for me, I'll (hopefully) be hired into a Paeds unit with my RGN then trained how they want. I don't think either of us should have to work with adults!

Because nicu is an icu, you can work in the nicu even with an adult license (which is what American nurses get since we don't have such a thing as a pedi nurse degree).
the exam thing is relatively new so I would study up on it. I got in before they did that and like you have never taken care of an adult as a RN in my entire career and wouldn't know anything.
