NMC Processing

World Registration

Published

I've read several posts here regarding the processing of NMC and yes, it was all helpful.

But I just want to share my personal experience and would like to ask anyone from the Philippines who have started or who are still processing theirs.

I've applied for NMC registration (through an agency) last September 2013. I've received my pack 1 after 2 weeks, paid the fee directly to NMC and submitted the requirements through the agency. I was the interviewed and got hired by an NHS hospital (through the same agency) last October 2013.

The thing is, it's already March. Twenty-****-Fourteen. And I'm still waiting for the Pack 2. I'm getting really really hopeless and frustrated as to how and why the NMC is taking so long in sending my packet 2.

I just want to ask anyone who could give an insight to my situation or share the same experience -- especially those who were hired by NHS through Philippine-based agencies.

Does the employer/hospital really willing to wait til you receive your decision letter?

Is it possible to be deployed to UK while you are still waiting for your decision letter?

Recently, I've come across a lot of job ads here in the Philippines regarding employment to UK, but does anyone here knows the true employment situation in the UK? Do they really need Filipino nurses knowing that it can almost take forever processing the NMC decision letter?

I apologize for sounding a little desperate here for answers. But, truth be told, I am quite desperate for answers. So I would deeply appreciate anyone who would respond and share any info. Thanks.

My understanding is if the NMC accept your application before a certain date then you follow the old system. If your application is accepted between a certain date you have the option of either old system or new. If application accepted in the fall then you will follow the new system

Thanks silverdragon! Just for clarification by 'accepted', did you mean applicants that have been given decision letters? Or have started their first pack? :-) thanks again.

Hello, I am planning to apply with NMC soon, hopefully before the NMC update is approved by Oct 2014. I would like to ask your help regarding regarding the 12 months post-registration experience requirement as I am having a dilemma if I am eligible to apply with NMC with my current professional experience status. I have 1 year and 4 months experience and I am currently working as a registered nurse. My 1 year and 4 months experience is from 3 different hospitals; this is due to the reason that it is difficult to avail a regular employment status as to lack of opportunity and demand here in our city. The thing is there's this recruitment agency for UK that told me that it should be 1 YEAR SOLID HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE (SOLID MEANS: 1 YEAR At 1 HOSPITAL ONLY).

I am really confused with their statement and I would like to know if there's any truth to it. I checked NMC website and they did not specify that it should be 1 year SOLID experience at 1 hospital only. I face this dilemma if I should push through with my plans or not, especially as I am also planning to take IELTS by Sept 2014.

Thank you for those who can help. :)

The agency is wrong you just need 12 months experience it doesn't say that it has to be in one place

Thank you Silverdragon102. I was having a continued conversation from a representative of the agency I'm trying to work with. She claims that during the stage II of the NMC application, there will be a requirement where an immediate head whom you worked for 1 SOLID YEAR should issue a certification/reference on your behalf.

Is it true? I really need to know, especially from you who may have already been through the process with NMC.

As per the NMC handbook

Employer references

As part of the stage one application form, the applicant will be asked to provide

details of their post qualification work experience and the countries in which they

have practised. At stage two, they will be required to provide two employment

references. The applicant must provide:

• One reference for at least a three month period of employment from their most

recent employer (within the last three years).

• One reference for at least a 12 month period of employment (within the last

five years).

Both references must be completed and signed by either a senior nurse, another

senior clinician (such as a registered medical practitioner) or the applicant’s line

manager.

http://www.nmc-uk.org/Documents/Registration/Registering%20as%20a%20nurse%20or%20midwife%20from%20outside%20EU%20or%20EEA.pdfIt isn't very clear but it certainly doesn't ask for 1 continuous (solid) year. It does ask however for a reference from an employer with at least 12 months employment

I checked their site and read this earlier today. I was only able to read the summarized version of the requirements before. Now, I fully understand the whole process and the things that they require and those that need to be submitted. So this is my dilemma right now, if I am eligible to apply or not. I was trying to confirm it with NMC, but their online inquiry responds after a week or so. I find my situation really frustrating to be honest and I don't know any other means to confirm my question as soon as possible. Anyway, thank you sir for your kind help.

hi. i would like to ask also about this new guidelines. would they base your application from the date of your issuance of the prn? mine was last march, when i need to comply with pack 1. now, im about to start my pack 2 requirements. does it mean my application will still be in the old guideline? or i have to finish pack 2 and send it to them before october? i also worked as a nurse in ksa way back 2010. and its been 4 years since i am back home. its very stressful since nmc requires a lot from my saudi experience, especially, the police clearance from saudi.

Good day Ms. Donna,

I am not sure about the new guidelines, that's why I cannot answer your query.

However, I would like to ask you regarding the requirements of the NMC (for the pack 2) for those who are from Saudi, because I also worked in Saudi for 2 years.

I am still waiting for my NMC pack 2, which will hopefully come this September.

What are the other things they require aside from police clearance?

Did you process the verification of registration from SCHS (because I read in another forum that it is also required by the NMC)?

I would really appreciate your response.

Thank you very much!

Hello there Arya,

I am currently working in Saudi Arabia, i have read a lot of posts regarding those on the process of NMC pack 2, they really need the verification of registration from Saudi Council. I just submitted my NMC pack 1 3 days ago and hopefull i will receive my Full application form (Stage 2) within this month.

Hello Promking,

It is nice to have other Filipinos who have worked or are currently working in Saudi Arabia to share their experiences regarding Saudi council. Can I just ask, the processing of the registration verification can only be done in SCHS main office in Riyadh? I worked in Jeddah before and my SCHS was issued in Jeddah.

I will appreciate any response.

Thank you very much.

Hi i applied through an agency in the philippines. I already applied for NMC online. I read the FAQs and the pdf provided by NMC on how to register. I understand the process but im still a bit confused on the specific requirements and documents.

Right now, im still waiting for pack 1. What can i do at this stage to expedite the process and avoid delays later? Do i need to have my documents notarized? Do i need to contact PRC and my school? They (my school and prc) need to send the certificates directly to NMC right?

I have the documents at hand. What can i do at this time? Plss help. Hope u could shed some light regarding this matter. :drowning:

Thanks in advance :inlove:

Hi @ promking12

I agree with you. Also, our experience from Saudi Arabia kind of delays processing of Pack 2. Been here in the Philippines since August 3rd week and I just submitted my Pack 1 days ago thru my agency. I hope all is well.

@arya s. winchester

I am also waiting for the client interview this Sept 30 til Oct 2. I hope that we have the same agency.

Anyway, do you know a way on how to send the forms to SCHS via courier. I don't have friends living in Riyadh.I want to prepare myself physically and emotionally on the next steps involved in pack 2. I have read somewhere that itll cause ús a lot of stress.
