I am a pre-nursing student in Wisconsin, studying for the RN pre-entrance exam...is there anyone who has taken this test that can give me an idea on what to expect? Ive taken the practice tests from the study guide and there seems to be questions on those tests that arent even in the study guide!! The more I study-the more concerned I become. If there is anyone that can ease my mind, I would appreciate it!!

Hi Nina. I too am studying for the NLN RN, and I"m having the same problem. The questions in the back of the book are not in the study guide. I called the school about this and they could not help. I am looking forward to the replies we get on this thread.
I have also noticed on the CD, there are some questions they mark as wrong that arent and some of the feedback is not complete!! Have you found any other guides or web sites to use? Ive followed a couple that didnt look to be helpful at all. How are you studying?
I noticed the same thing on the CD. I am only using the studyguide. I don't know what else to do at this point. My school says they have a packet that they give out to study from....so, I will def be picking that up next week. I'm supposed to take the test at the end of this month. It's really frustrating right now!!!!!! I'm thinking the math and verbal should be right on --- except how do you study for the vocab ?? The science is what is killing me cuz the quest's are not in the book !!!!!!!!!! UGH !!!!!!!!
well Im sched to take it this wed!!!!! I guess I will find out soon enough how it will go!! Your right, studying for the vocab is impossible!! Im terrible at math!! yikes!! The exam is graded as a whole right? its not "if you fail math, but pass science, you still fail" I guess it doesnt matter...
This wed ? OMG ! I believe there is a composite score. Just do the best you can with what you got. That is all we can do. The study guide suxs ! Please KIT and let me know how it went. Just study math as much as you can till Wed and do the best you can with science. Did you ask your school if they had any ideas on how to study ?
when I did ask they handed me the study guide...I already had it!!! they said that was the best way to prepare! HA!! I will be locked in my room cramming all weekend!!!! (my poor kids!!!) But I guess they might have to get used it, at least for the next couple years!! Thank god I have a supportive family! Thanks for the advise, I will keep you informed!
Ok. Thank you too. Just keep at it all weekend ! If we know the study guide and those stupid questions we have a shot at atleast passing. You would think!! I'll be at it all weekend as well.....KIT
Does anyone else have any suggestions ?

I actually didn't really study at all for this test. I was sure I was going to fail and even after I took it I felt like there was no way I passed. But I did! I did really bad in the math section mainly because I'm slower at working out math problems and I didn't get to finish a lot of the problems. But I did so well on the reading/comprehension/vocab and average on the science that I still passed in the 79th percentile.
I do recommend studying though because I'm sure I would have done much better in the science portion and the math had I studied. I suggest just studying what's in the book because after I took it, I looked through the book and there really was a lot of stuff in there that I recognized from the test.
well...I took the test...! And it looks good so far!!!!! I did really bad in the math section. but did well enough in the rest of it, that it (so far) worked out fine. (i think) Since I took the computer test, I was able to print off my results right away...but I still have to wait the 2 wks to get the "official" word on my results. vocab was BAD!!! LOTS of words I didnt know...the reading takes a while, but I still finished with time to review my answers. The math was bad only because I am TERRIBLE at it!! Science was ok, I did, however, do alot better than I thought I would. Im glad its done, but now Im thinking about retaking it to get a better score! I think I might be crazy!! I think I did ok, Im proud of myself, its been more than 10 years since Ive had to study like that. and its only just beginning!! Its a good way to get started!! The study guide works...so does the CD. (for as much as lmarie1 and I complained about it)
