NLN PAX

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi, Im studying for my NLN-PAX now, from that review guide book that everyone uses. Im just a bit confused because when i do practice exams, i keep coming across questions that were not in the book! most of the time i can sort of guess at them just based on knowledge from high school or whatever but im scared that this book wont properly prepare me for the exam. Does anyone else have the same issue?? i think it is mostly in the science area where this happens.

what do you mean by experimental? and ya i really should practice more timing myself, right now im mostly just doing questions from the book, and the CD is it came with. whats the best way to speed up my math? it takes me foreverrrrr. they give hours for the entire exam?

They use them to determine what to put on future tests so they don't count against or for you. It'sstrictly for research. You get an hr for each section 80questions for science and verbal and 54 questions for math. You can start the next section when you're finished or you can take the entire hr and then move on to the next section. I didn't even use the cd because it was compatible with my mac I just used the book and khan academy for the math portion.

what did you use khan academy for? like any specific topics? was the book okay for the science and verbal parts? any suggestions on where to find useful lists of vocab words to study?

I just used the book for everything except the math I used khan academy to help me do the math quick because you can't use a calculator for the math so you have to do division and fractions and percentages all on your own. I used th e book as a quide so I knew what to study but I needed the extra help. You may not need it. But it helped me alot

I second Khan Academy. It's the best kept secret;)

ya thanks guys i think ill give that a try. Ive used khan academy before and other channels on youtube to help me in school, just never thought of using it for this. and im really really liking this whole website thing. its so nice like all these nursing people just help eachother out, its awesome ;)

Let us know how well you do :)

I just took the exam. I got a score of 134. is this a good/ok score?

@Rosietg how was the science section & was the nln study guide helpful?

it wasnt that bad... yes the book was definitely quite helpful. are you studying for it now?

@Rosietg yes I take it on the 19 what would you say focus on most? All sections thanks

theres really no way to answer that. you cant make yourself crazy. just try to do a little of everything, try your best and dont worry about it ;). its impossible to know what questions they will give you so just study whatever you feel you can.

@rosietg ok I kinda figured that anyway how did you do or when do you find out?
