I have to take the NLN in September. How can I prepare for this test? I have already purchased an online guide to help me with the NLN. Has anyone ever used an online guide for this test? If not, what tools did you use to prepare for this test?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Took 2 NLN exams in my freshman year. The questions were basically what you have already learned in school during the 1st year...at least for us anyway. Good luck!

The main thing is to try not to stress. I took the NLN a couple of years ago. At that point, I had not taken any algebra or chemistry classes in my life. The passing score was 60%, I got an 82%. If I can do it, I know that you can. I just looked over study books before I took it. You will do fine.:)

for the nursing program that i am in we actually had to take and pass the test before we could even apply. i got the nln study guide from the bookstore and that really helped me out alot. i hadn't taken a math class in about 10 years, so the algebra kicked my butt! the english and the science weren't to hard. the study guide offers sample tests that are similar to what you will be taking. just try to relax and try not to freak out about it. good luck and let me know if i can help you with anything!

I was going to post the same question. I was looking through my syllabus yesterday and we have to take the NLN at the end of our first semester. I'm hoping there is some sort of study guide that we can purchase.

If you're used to doing long math with a calculator, set it aside and practice doing all your calculations on paper. I was so rusty with this, and probably missed a lot of questions from simple math errors. The answers are all within a fraction of each other, so you have to be able to do more than know how to solve the word problem, you have to do perfect math, too.

Try to spend a lot of time improving your reading comprehension. I got lots of questions where you had to speed-read a paragraph, and pick the best answers about what you read. Going back to the paragraph to find the right answers is way too time consuming. You have to be FAST to finish the exam before time is up.

Fill in every, single question with an answer if you haven't finished before time is up. Don't forget!

Sit as far away from others as you can. My friend had a girl next to her that read her questions out loud, and it was so distracting my friend could barely concentrate.

Don't poke around...you really have to be fast to finish before time is up for each section.

Good luck!
