NLN 2017 HELP!! so nervous

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

So im trying to get into nursing school and I have to take the NLN test. They have just recently re did the test it use to be 3 hours and more questions and they have basically cut it in half and you only get 40 mins for each section. There are no new books out for it and I only have the old one. I feel like I am going in blind, I have been studying like crazy but I feel like it will have completely new material. Has any taken the new 2017 NLN test?? if so how was it? Or does anyone have any tips?? I dont want to bomb this test!!!

Did you take the test? Is it the same test to bypass your a and p and micro class if they're over 7 years old? I went to take it today but the NLN website is down and they're telling me it's two separate tests one for a and p and one for micro... so I was wondering if it still has vocab and math on it or if it's strictly a and p and micro material on the test?

The NLN exam mentioned here isn't for bypassing classes; it's a nursing entrance exam that some colleges require prior to entering their nursing programs.

Hello everyone,

I took my NLN exam yesterday 1/22/18. I purchased the practice exams from the NLN website they come with study guides. I was advised by my advisor that they don't want us to use the red NLN book because the study guides are more up to date. I did compare the book to the study guides and I noticed that some of the information in the book had been removed from the study guides, which isn't a surprise because the book is old. Studying the practice exams and understanding the questions is what helped me the most. Each time you take a practice exam the next time you will get a few different questions added to the exam. I was told that I should wait and study 90 days before taking the exam, but I had faith that I would pass. I had already completed all of my prerequisites which gave me an advantage. I started studying in the beginning of December. The verbal exam was 60 questions, the math 40, and the science 60. You are graded on the percentage that you get correct. Each exam has to be completed within 40 minutes (two hours). The verbal exam was the most challenging because it entailed 5 passages with 5 questions per passage, and also 30 questions that use words from the dictionary in sentences that you probably wont know. The sentences give an example of a word and you have to choose what word (synonym) describes the word used in the sentence. For this exam the time went fast and I came very close to running out of time. The math and science were not bad at all. The questions are pretty similar to the practice test questions. If you purchase the practice exams and continuously go over the questions and understand the questions you will pass. My score is not the highest by far but I am very happy and proud of myself. My school requires a composite score of 100 there is no petitioning, when we pass the NLN with a score of 100 or higher we are automatically admitted into the nursing program.

My results:

Verbal-60-55% correct

Math- 40-70% correct

Science-60-50% correct

Composite score- 105

@New nurse19 where are the study guides? I went through the practice exams for each section, but can't find study guide pdf.

The study guides should be available when you purchase the exams on the NLN website. Unless they’ve changed things since January.
