NLN guide for taking Pax exam?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello guys!! I am completely new here so I hope that I am doing this correctly!! I was wondering if anyone had recently taken the Pax-RN exam and used the 3rd edition NLN pre-admission book. If so was it useful and how did you do? If not could someone please recommend the best one? I am scheduled to take the exam on May 3rd and have previously studied other books but want to be completely prepared as I live in a very small town and there is really only one school locally to apply too. Thanks!!

Thanks guys I am definitely going to order the book...Now I have a whole other concern...Finals for this semester is on May 12th and they moved the PAX to May 13th. I don't know if I can study both the way they need to be!!

There's almost too much to study in regards to science. I had only taken A&P 1 when I took the PAX, hadn't had any other science class in 10 years, and never took physics, and basically didn't study during the 2 months prior to the PAX because I was taking 18 credits. The science section for me was sure of 33% of the answers , best/educated guess on 33%, and just guessed for the other 33%. Mine literally had little bit of everything, Bio, Chem, physics, and A&P.

I still made it to the 99% as my final rating . But I did perfectly on the math portion (take your time!) and fairly well on the English to make up for it I think.

Good luck!

I am taking this test in a few weeks... Is it as crazy as everyone makes it out to be? I only have AP 1 under my belt... Hoping the book will get me through? need to make it past the 75th percentile

I took the test with all of my sciences done aside from Micro. I scored in the 99th percentile. The book is definitely helpful and the test format was pretty much exactly the same. There were some weird electricity questions and my test was heavy in physics.

Make sure you can keep to their time limits. Some people lost points because they weren't able to complete all the questions in the time allotted.

I wish you luck!
