NLN Exit Exam

um...I honestly don't know how to start explaining my fear of taking the NLN Exit exam!!!

Our school requires us to take it in order to graduate, but according to the previous class,

their passing rate was less than 50%. And on top of that, the passing score HAS be 75%+.

I'm so freaked out about it all that I decided to google "nln exit exam" and one of the links lead me here.

For the many of you that have been through the same, would you mind sharing some words of comfort and advice?

No one from our class has any idea on how to start studying. Our school hasn't even made any suggestions. To make matters worse, the DON recently quit, therefore we have absolutely no idea who to approach about our concerns. (BTW, our school is a tiny private school with a very limited number of staff members, so speaking to the DON was our best bet).

Some students who've taken it from the previous class could only suggest we read and know EVERYTHING; that even reviewing Saunders, Lippincott, Kaplan and Mosby will be of no help. Is that really true, or are they just trying to scare us even more?!

We are so lost and desperate that we even contemplated on approaching this one student (from the last class) that passed the NCLEX shortly after successfully graduating..........although we decided not to in the end.

Please, do share some kind words of wisdom if you don't mind...for I'm one desperate student seeking light of hope.

Mid March.....aaaaahhhh!

We are all wrecks...mainly because we don't know where to even start.

As I already mentioned, we spoke to a couple of students from the previous class, and they said reviewing from NCLEX materials did not help them at all. I'm hoping they said that only to scare us...but somehow it keeps on haunting me.

In my school they have a 100% pass rate for atleast the last 2 years on the NLN comp & a 99% pass rate on the NLN Pharm .

Everyone used there NCLEX books, They said do the test at the end of each chapter if you do not do well, brush up on it.

I am very nervous also, but if others can pass so can we.

Well, I guess I should crack my NCLEX review books open, instead of staring at the textbooks, hoping something would catch my attention.

LET'S DO THIS SUCKA!

I had to take a similar exam at my nursing school in w.v. It wasnt the NLN, but the ATI which is pretty much the same thing. The material was a compilation of everything I had learned in nursing school and I didnt pass it the first time I took it. That really scared me because this test was designed to be an indicator of how I would do on the NCLEX. Some graduate nurses told me that If I could pass the ATI then I could pretty much expect to pass the nclex. And they were right. I stopped studying for the ATI and started studying for the nclex. I just kept doing as many nclex questions as possible, at least 100 a day, and this really helped to show what areas my weaknesses were in and which material I needed to focus on. A couple weeks later , I took the ATI again and passed it with ease, and then the nclex. I was really scared when the nclex shut off with only 81 questions. I felt like I surely failed the nclex miserably since I felt like I didnt know the answers to many of the questions. But, I guess I really knew more than I thought I did cause I passed. Have faith in yourself, nursing school is tough and if you made it this far, I bet you know more than you think.
