Hi, I have applied for nursing and the nursing handbook says it's a requirement to take the nln exam and a health related math test but I was wondering if I could take the first nursing course, intro to nursing before I take the nln exam or if I have to wait? Also, I applied for the Spring semester. Thank you for any insight.

I would call the school to ask. My college requires that you take the NLN prior to starting on any of the actual nursing courses.

My Tech. school requires the NLN as part of your application to the nursing school. Then if you don't score high enough you can retake and they also do some rem.classes to get you at the level you need for nursing classes. I took the clatest 2/06, had all other req. done and received a letter in June that I am in for Jan. 2007. My tech also req. you take the CNA course to get some experience also. limited unless you work but very ben. for some people from the ?? that were asked in my CNA class.
Thanks for the input. I actually used to be a CNA right out of high school and I worked at a nursing home but hated it so much that I quit after 6 months and decided not to do anything medical even though I had originally wanted to be a surgical nurse. I finished two years of college and got my associate degree in general ed. I have worked at a hotel for the past 5 years and I started to think more about nursing again because I want a rewarding job where I make a difference in people's lives. I realize now that being a nurse is quit different from a cna seeing that a cna does all the stuff the rn's and lpn's don't want to do. I'm excited about going back to school and starting a new career.
Good luck on your schooling and your new career.
I don't agree with you that cna's do stuff that lpn's and rn's don't want to do but I won't go into details.

More than likely you will have to take it before any Nursing classes. That is how my school does it. That is how they determine who will be accepted to the program since there are a limited amount of spaces available.
GOOD LUCK!!
