  1. Hi, I am taking my pre-reqs for nursing. I had originally considered taking a two year associate degree program for rn and then at a later time I would go back to school and get my bsn, but I already have an associate degree in general ed. All I have to do is take the science classes that are pre-requisites for nursing and then I will be ready to enter the program. The dilemma is that I can get into nursing in January for a two-year program because there is no wait and they have 120 slots for fall and 120 for spring. Also, the program is non-accredited but still lets you sit for the NCLEX. The school that has the bsn is very competitive to get into and they only have 36 slots in the fall for the whole year. If I get in though I'll only have two years left to go and I'll have my bsn and if I go the associate program I'll have two and then another two later on for my bsn. I just don't want to go through so much extra school and money when I already have my associate degree. Any input would be very appreciated. Sorry this post is so long.
  2. Thanks for the input. I actually used to be a CNA right out of high school and I worked at a nursing home but hated it so much that I quit after 6 months and decided not to do anything medical even though I had originally wanted to be a surgical nurse. I finished two years of college and got my associate degree in general ed. I have worked at a hotel for the past 5 years and I started to think more about nursing again because I want a rewarding job where I make a difference in people's lives. I realize now that being a nurse is quit different from a cna seeing that a cna does all the stuff the rn's and lpn's don't want to do. I'm excited about going back to school and starting a new career.
  3. Hi, I have applied for nursing and the nursing handbook says it's a requirement to take the nln exam and a health related math test but I was wondering if I could take the first nursing course, intro to nursing before I take the nln exam or if I have to wait? Also, I applied for the Spring semester. Thank you for any insight.
