You can be a LPN while in nursing school for RN?
I attend a technical college in Wisconsin. Our first year is a LPN tech. degree program. We all graduate with our PN and if you have declared as an ADN student you continue on for the 2nd year. Jeni

Scrubs?
Upscalescubs.com has tall scrubs. They have great different scrubs made from tencel and cotton. I love them. They are a bit pricey but I buy when they have clearance sales going on, like NOW! Good luck, Jeni

NLN exam before nursing classes?
My Tech. school requires the NLN as part of your application to the nursing school. Then if you don't score high enough you can retake and they also do some rem.classes to get you at the level you need for nursing classes. I took the clatest 2/06, had all other req. done and received a letter in June that I am in for Jan. 2007. My tech also req. you take the CNA course to get some experience also. limited unless you work but very ben. for some people from the ?? that were asked in my CNA class.

What's everyone taking this fall?
I am taking General A & P and nursing pharmacology this fall and will start nursing classes in Jan. Three evenings a week. I just finished Dev. Psy. this summer hopefully with an A but have one paper to get graded yet. First class I've had in 19 years other than CNA last spring. Good Luck everyone! Jeni

School and Work combo
I'm not sure this would work but what about going to school part time and taking longer to finish. I'm sure not your first chioce and may not be possible with your school. Just a thought. Otherwise great time management, online courses if possible, more weekend hours. Good luck I'm thinking I will have an issue with this in Jan. Jeni

CNA board cert test tips???
I took my CNA test through prommisor associated with red cross out of PA. In Wi they don't test BP and something else don't remember what off the top of my head. Test was easy you can go to the website and take a sample test. They require 5 skills -hand washing is required. I needed to do a bed bath, ambulation, feeding and "ted stocking application". I didn't have any problems just review the booklet and take your time. We could say start over if we felt we did something wrong and tell her what we would have done. Good luck!

Anything helpful to buy for CNA position?
I have found a small notebook to keep in my pocket very helpful. I use it to write down the jobs for the shift as I was training, words I want to look up to get a head start on nursing education, tests/ lab work what they are -procedures to get ready for it., normal BP, glucose levels etc. The hospital I am in has all the tools I need but once you get there you may find something you will need to bring. gloves in pocket are great idea We only use black pens to chart so that is all I carry after the day I picked up blue and used that. Learning expereince : ) Be open to anything and honest about what you know and have experience with. I have learned so much in my 6 months on med/surg it is a great experience. I work with great nurses who are very helpful and don't mind my asking ??? they have offered to help in any way during my nursing education. A recent grad in my program came in with a bag full of A & P books and notecards for me the other day. Good luck!

I have a question about financial aid
I would think it would be faster to do it online at the FAFSA site. If it works like it does with WI schools. They then send the info. to the school you have applied to and you will get info. from the school. We needed to send in taxes from last year and a verification sheet also. My son and I are both going to be in college starting this fall and that is how it worked at a UW scool and a technical school. Good Luck Jeni

Plantar Facitis-Heel Pain, help!
I also suffered from PF. Went to the podiatrist and PT for exercises and got inserts. I had luck with that stuff but for the last year I have worn nothing but crocs. I love them. A Dr at our hospital who was military in Iraq had lots of leg,hip & feet problems from body armour swears by them. They are fun and I throw mine in the washing machine once a week or after a "bad" shift at the hospital. I LOVE them. Jeni
