NLN A&P Exam

Published

Hello everyone,

I am going to be taking the NLN A&P exam in the next few months and I am looking for some help on what to study. Has anyone taken it yet? Our school just switched from the NLN PAX Exam to the A&P Exam. I have called the NLN and there is no review guide available. I am not getting much help on what areas of A&P 1 and 2 would be the best to focus on and there is a lot of information. Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

When did you apply the first time and did you have 20 points then as well? Do you know what the cut off points were for Jan. start?

Hi, gwstudent. I actually applied over a year ago and only had about 16 points. I just got my associates in health science which gave me the extra two points and also brought up my nln test grade due to the change in the test. The cut off for the Jan. start was 21 points. I really do hope that 20 points is enough. I know that there were many people that took the new a and p exam that never even took a and p. Thats why they sent out a notice that only students applying to the nursing program and that have completed A and P could take the test. This may actually increase our chances of getting in this time around:)

I hope that we both get in. Do you know anyone else that took it and applied?

I don't know anyone else that took the exam or applied to the nursing program. If I don't get in I have to sign up for classes toward the bachelors in health science. I really did not want to do that but they will leave me no choice. You have to be a student to take the A and P exam at the school and I am now considered alumni. If I do get in, I was told that I have to go through admissions all over again. The only benefit from that is that I can register before other students already attending Goodwin. Let me know if you get a letter and I will do the same. Good Luck:)

when I took the exam marlene said that this was the most applicants she ever got in one semester and I thought (speculation) the reason they changed the registration process for the nln was because people didnt apply and took the exam and their were people who could apply who couldnt because all the seats were gone. It filled up in a day. What are your thoughts?

when i was waiting in line to take the exam i overheard two students say they never even took A and P I. I also heard another student say he just finished A and P II but didn't apply to the nursing program this semester. Marlene overheard one of the students saying that they did not take their A and P classes yet and she looked at them and told them they shouldn't be here taking this test. The girl said that her teachers were encouraging her to do it and everyone in her class so she could get a feel for the test. I can't imaging taking that test without knowing any A and P! I believe thats why there was such a huge turnout for the test. I really hope a lot of people took that test and didn't apply. You need that test in order to apply even if you took the old nln. For that reason we may actually have a chance to get in:)

Hello, I am currently in the nursing program at Goodwin. I just started in January, and the cut off for our cohort was 22 points. Through the grapevine I have heard that the scores over all for the NLN AP exam were low (most likely because of what you are saying about the number of people who took the test with out even taking AP 1 or 2) therefore the points to get in for the May semester are going to be low. But like I said, this was from heard through the rumor mill, so take it it with a grain of salt. So I am sure that you ladies will get in, your packages should arrive just about halfway through the semester. Registration starts the end of March, so my guess would be the second week in March. Good Luck!

I recieved my acceptance letter today!!!!!

That is awesome...I am so happy for you...you must be jumping up and down. My mail comes real late in the day and haven't heard anything yet. I hope I get in too!

I think its safe to say you did!!!!! i wonder what the cut off was

I got my acceptance letter today...I am sooooo happy...couldn't stop crying! I have to take the CPR because I only have adult not infant CPR. I wonder if they would let me just do the infant part.
