NJNSA Convention in Atlantic City, NJ

Published

Specializes in PCU, Tele, ICU.

Hi Everyone,

I am a senior nursing student graduating in May (I'm so excited!)and I am planning on attending the NJNSA Convention in Atlantic City, NJ on Feb. 21st-22nd (actually it's the school requirement). This is my first time going. I was wondering should I bring a resume or just talk to recruiters about their hospitals and what questions to ask recruiters? Should I start looking for employment now or wait till I graduate? If anybody reads this post and is going, please send a message!!

CONGRATULATIONS! I Will be going to the same event with my school also. We were told to bring resumes and dress business casual.

We should be prepared even if we are not told how to present ourselves. I would rather have my tools with me than to be sorry that opportunities have passed me by.

When you go to the convention, make sure you bring a dozen or two of your address labels with you. It saves time from writing your address over and over again on forms and it you see a stand that you like and would like to join their mailing list, just pull off a sticker. It is a great time saver!

Also, make sure you get to each "lecture" early because they fill up quick.

P.S. Yes, definitely bring the resumes! It is never too early to start.

Specializes in Neonatal ICU (Cardiothoracic).

Bring your resumes, and memorize a list of questions to ask the recruiter, such as benefits, time off, tuition reimbursement, relocation bonuses, etc.

Use this as time to network with as many potential recruiters as possible. That way you'll have several options on the table when you graduate, and decide on a job. Remember that you're graduating with thousands of other nursing students at pretty much the same time, and jobs can get pretty slim during the summer and new year....

I'm going there also! I've never been there,, but

I graduated two month ago and I have hard time finding a job..

so I'm gonna see if going there will help me..

Good luck on yours!

Did you have any luck? Hackensack Univ Med Ctr reps were handing out applications. Campusrn.com will find a job for you. Jersey City Med Ctr is taking applications as well. Im not sure who went, but I just wanted to inform the soon to be graduates.
