NJCU ABSN 2018-19 Cohort

Published

Hi Aspiring Nurses,

So I may be a bit early, considering the 2017 class is just now getting their acceptance letters for this coming Fall. But since late last year, I've been preparing to apply to the NJCU ABSN Jersey City cohort that will begin in 2018. I wasn't able to apply to the 2017 cohort as my prerequisites were not finished in time. I figured others may be in the same boat, so I figured why not get the conversation going. The application will open in October, and that's creeping up quickly, as it always does. ;)

Therefore, I'd like to start this forum to discuss any questions or concerns we might have. I'm attending the info seminar next Wednesday, 3/29 at 5 PM - anyone else going? Some of my concerns are financial aid, specifically how much non-need based aid is available as many of us may not qualify for need-based aid if we work full time now. I currently work in Financial Aid, so if you have any questions about that, I'd be happy to give any info I have. I'm also curious about credit requirements for prereqs - I can't seem to find specific numbers (e.g. how many A&P credits do we need).

Overall, I hope to connect with others who are interested in applying to start in 2018, Jersey City and Wall - please share your thoughts, and I look forward to speaking with you!

Hey everyone! I have a question about the transcript entry. Do we only have to submit a transcript request form from the school we go our bachelors in? I took a couple of my prereqs at my local community college and I called njcu and asked and they said I didn't have to submit a form to them but I'm nervous i don't know if I should just in case. And did everyone input every class they took for their bachelors?

Hi no you don't need the transcript request form, however you must put your CAS ID on the transcript so that Nursing Cas can identify it.

I have a question about the application process, do we have to input all of our transcript grades or only our prerequisite grades.

Hi Prickles, did you have to verify all of your transcripts or only the prerequisites?

For this program, you just have to enter your prereqs.

thank you angeloc

I spoke to NursingCAS and they said that we have to input all of our attempts for a course. Idk bout y'all but I had to retake a majority of my courses to get that A, is anyone in the same situation and input all of their course attempts. I just feel like it makes me look so bad.

Hi everyone! I've been reading this forum as a bystander but I decided today to create an account. I'm from south jersey but I'm applying to the NJCU campus because my grandma lives down the street from the school (I can see the gym from her window). Living close by will be so convenient for me during school...if I'm accepted.

I didn't want to apply before I took the HESI. However I took it today with a great score so my application will be sent tomorrow! I feel so relieved.

@angeloc where and how did you find the average score report?

I found it! NJCU campus average is 80%

Where did you find this information?

Thank you

When you look at your score on Evolve, click on the exam sections separately and it compares your score for that section of the HESI to the "average class score". Unsure if it's for the cohort currently in the program now or if it's in regards to those taking the exam recently

@Jordannnn

Thank you for this helpful info. And, congrats on your passing score. :)
