Posting for a friend.
My best friend in nursing school got a DUI 4 years ago (before nursing) . His BAC was a 2.3. He provided NJBON with the DUI info along with a personal letter and proof of a an interlock device -1 year installment. He did some sort of therapy class with a counselor but never sent in the documentation to the NJBON. He passed his NCLEX and received an email a month later from the NJBON that basically said he was required to do an NJ RAMP evaluation. Were both new grads btw.
Is there anything he can do? Would it help if he sent in the extra documentation from the therapist/counselor? Would a lawyer help? Can the case be reopened?
I just feel like requiring NJ RAMP is a little excessive. I have heard stories about nurses who have had 2 DUI with nursing licenses and never had to attend NJ RAMP.

The above statement is 100%.......FALSE. I have NEVER....EVER.....NEVER EVER......met or heard of any nurse in my lifetime who completed a 5 year monitoring program in a state, then when they move to another state after they completed their 5 year program, the new state makes them do monitoring again. That is absolutely and 100% FALSE. The new state does not make you do monitoring again. Your license in the state in which you complete the 5 year program is placed in good standing, unencumbered, and off of probation upon completion of monitoring and when you apply to the state you move to, you absolutely will have to explain what happened and give proof of your monitoring completion 5 year certificate, but they don't simply make you "start all over again."
Now.....fair warning. If you move BEFORE you actually COMPLETE the 5 years of monitoring and you move with 6 months or are year left to complete the 5 years, there is a possibility the new state could enforce a full monitoring term, but simply Unheard of to be placed literally back into monitoring upon completion of (ACTUAL COMPLETION) of a monitoring program in one state, then moving to another state.
