NJ Licensure by Endorsement

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

i am peanut, 22 years old and an RN from the Philippines. I currently hold a license from the State of Vermont and I am going to apply for a licensure by endorsement in NJBON.. now, my dilemma is i am still here in the philippines, i read the post about if you're not subjecting yourself for a livescan, it takes about 3-4 months for the process? I am now awaiting for my packet 4 which i don't have any idea when will it arrive,

my packet 3 has been completed last jan.24,2006. I still don't have my SSS no. since my agent will be forwarding it together with the packet. Can I ask for your advice on what shall i do? should i file it already while here in the phils. or just there in NJ? How about the license verification? Shall I use the nursys? VT is included. I hope you can shed light to my queries.

thank you very much.

it's me,

HI leny,

i know that u posted ur msg like 4 years ago but im still hoping that u get this message coz i also have the same problem as you are before.

im sure that your already at the height of your career right now and i just want to know how you went about with your endoresment application to nj bon.

I just recent became a permanent resident here in the states last year and i took my nclex rn last week march 14,2011.

I already received my cali rn license and i want to apply for endorsement here in nj. I was looking at their updated website and i didnt see any information pertaining to a CES verification.

im also a registered nurse in the philippines so im also wondering if i need to ask PRC (Philiippine Regulations Commission) to fill up the license verification form for nj bon and send it directly to nj bon. because the form states that " the applicant needs to send a license verification from each state that he/she has been licensed in or any jurisdiction for that matter. In my case im licensed in cali and the philippines.

im somehow getting frustrated with all these paper work..

i hope you can shed some light to this issue...

thanks...

hope ull reply...:crying2:

hi... i have the same exact situation like you.

i just filed my endorsement application today and you will need to send the License Verification form to California. You will also have to send a $60.00 check for the mail-in verification to california:

check to:

Board of Registered Nursing

po box 944210

sacramento, california 94244-2100

attn: endorsements out of california

California will then send NJ BON written verification of your license and your current standing with them.

You won't need to get any verification done from the PRC. once you have gotten your california license, you are already a NCLEX passer and you don't need to show all those documents again for proof of your nursing education/career in the Philippines. Besides.. Philippines is a country not a state.

I did have to produce a copy of my diploma which is a requirement written in the application packet for foreign graduates. I did not produce CES either and they accepted my payment and application.

hey guys, i am in real trouble. i will surely appreciate your advice. this is related to nj licensing that's why i opt to post here. (please be gentle with me. this is my first post) :o i am a foreign trained nurse who is currently residing in nj. i have green card and ssn. my questions are:

1.) can i be exempted from taking toefl because of my green card and ssn? i actually read the requirements at bon nj site but i am kind of confused because i know someone who did not take toefl to sit for nclex (nj state). i asked him how he did it but he did not tell me. i mean he did not answer my email. :crying2:

2.) in one state, i read that there was one nurse who did not reach 26 score in the speaking part of toefl. she got 24. she wrote the bon, and her total score was considered. she did not need to retake toefl.

i know that every experience is unique. i hope nurses in nj who had similar situation as mine can share. please. and thank you very much in advance. i tried my best to read all posts related to my question but i am really confused.

best regards,

kalleigh

may i add...i think this site is better than fb. i learned a lot of things. really. just saying. thank you.

hello kalleigh!

just got here in nj as well but lucky you coz you got your gc and ssn already. ;) the answer is big no! your immigration status won't even exempt you for taking toefl coz that is one hell part of nj bon requirements.

2.) in one state, i read that there was one nurse who did not reach 26 score in the speaking part of toefl. she got 24. she wrote the bon, and her total score was considered. she did not need to retake toefl.

hmmmmnnn...wow! good for her. she might be lucky this time ;)

if you wish to apply a license in nj, toefl is part of it. first of, log on tohttp://www.ets.org/toefl/ibt/register/, register, pay online, schedule and take the exam. a couple of weeks later, they will notify you by mail with your test scores. then, you must forward your certification that you took the said exam ( with your test scores on it) to cgfns. before that, you need to sign up an account with them via https://www.cgfns.org/cerpassweb/register.jsp, pay online the service order for the english language proficiency assessment, then you will be instructed to forward your documentation to prove that you took the toefl.

a lot of hassle, right?!!!:uhoh3:

in my case, my first choice was to apply for a license in nj, but the big hassle on my end was the toefl thingy. prepare your mind to study the english exam and of course, nclex. i was enlightened with all the blogs posted on this site. i, then finally decided to apply for eligibility in the state of vt and if god will permit me to pass the nclex and they will grant me that precious license, i will apply for reciprocity or endorsement of licence from vt to nj. at least, the only exam that i need to surpass is nclex!

i am currently complying my requirements to apply a license in vt.since they require credentials evaluation service from cgfns, i signed up an account with them, paid the professional report order for $335, downloaded the forms, sent them to prc and to the university where i graduated college (i authorized my sister to submit my paper works in behalf of me), and i am currently waiting for them (prc and school) to forward my tor/certificates and request forms to cgfns and evaluate all my credentials.

from the time that they will issue my certificate, i submit that together with my other requirements to vt bon and wait for my eligibility letter. as soon as i will get that letter, i will register to pearson vue to take the nclex, pay, wait for att, schedule then take the exam pretty sooon. the waiting period might be like a snail mail, but it's fine.... at least i have an ample time to prepare for the most awaited big day of ma life ~ to take the nclex. what's next? hahaha...luckily, hopefully, pass the exam and become a us-rn! wooooo!

just think positive and soon we will get through these challenge in life! let me know if you have questions.

best regards,

Why the sleepless nights? There is nothing to worry about. You are good as gold, and all u need to do is wait a little longer.

I believe when u are petitioned by ur fiance, u can apply for a working permit when u get here while waiting for your green card/citizenship to process. As soon as u get that visa, you can go apply for a social security number. once u get your SSN, you provide that to california and get your license.

once you have your license, then you can go download this http://www.nj.gov/lps/ca/nursing/endor_app.pdf and fill it up. You will have to mail the License Verification to California Board of Nursing as well as a $60 processing fee. You can look at my previous message on this thread on how to do that. Fill up the endorsement application and either u can mail it or bring it in person to NJ BON along with your application fee. Its better if you show up in person so you know that they actually received your application and they give it a look over to make sure all your requirements are complete. In about two weeks they will mail you a fingerprinting card and you have to setup an appointment with Morpho-Trak. You can pay their fee online or via money-order in person. Once NJ BON receives all of your requirements: fingerprint, license verification from california, fbi security clearance, you will get your NJ License.

I'll tell u something, for the money applying for the NJ license, you'd imagine they'd give u something as nice as california.

Hi..xxryu139xx thank u really bigtime.. It really help me alot.. So happy to have a forum like this for all the nurses like us.. More blessing to come..

you're welcome =)

Hi, I have the same situation, but I'm planning on taking the TOEFL exam. I just want to ask if how long would it take for the endorsement for reciprocity of license to take place/finish the whole process which made you chose taking the NCLEX for VT? Because I am just a new permanent resident here in NJ. I have a GC and SSN, but I think it doesn't even matter because I never imagined the process here in NJ will be complicated unlike in the other states.

I was just starting to understand all the process because of these forums. I was really confused in the start and I think I jumbled the steps. Recently, I just knew that the NJ needs a CES review from my university, but I already gave those forms to my university and I was notified that the CGFNS already received it. Later then that I realized that I have to issue an order first online and pay the necessary fees. So I made my account in cgfns.org and when I was doing the order I saw these forms about validation of license which I believe is the one I need from PRC to send to CGFNS. Now I haven't completed and paid for the order yet. Do I have to do the PRC thing first or do I have to pay already? I put my order on PENDING because I was unsure what to do and to add the TOEFL thing up too which was also asked in the order..

I hope someone understands what I was trying to say.. I would really appreciate it.. Thank you and God bless.

Hey, I empathize with you. As for me, I focused on accomplishing the requirements of BON, NJ. It took me a year. Yeah, long wait. Send me PM if you have questions. I will be more than willing to share with you what I know. God bless you. :)

I'm a NY LPN, I applied for a NJ lic by endorsement.I first sent my application in Sept 2011. It took until Dec 29 before they cashed my check for my background check/fingerprints, which had been sent to them on Dec 1st.....it is now feb 9 2012, 5 months later and I'm still waiting! I'm going to go to the board of nursing office to see if I can finally get them to tell me my number, or tell me what the hold up is! I mean 5-6 months is ridiculous.
