It is unique - very interesting history. The downtown facility has been there since the 1930's; right on the famed Riverwalk. I actually did "management" rotations there as a UT BSN student a loooooonnnngggg time ago. At that time, they had a very different sort of admin structure than other hospitals. Although they now have a few satellite clinic facilities, I believe it is still privately owned. Sorry I can't provide any insight into the nursing environment. Hopefully, other AN'ers will be able to chime in with more information.
Thx HouTex!Anyone else?
Hi Kaligirl02,
I know this was posted last year but I was wondering if you found any information on NIX. Thank you in advance:)
Old hospital in downtown San Antonio. Patient floors are on 19th-24th floors. Cafeteria on the 6th floor. Patients admitted on the 17th floor. Hospital still has fire escape on the outside. If you're a young nurse and looking for excitement, it ain't that kind of place. Patients do get great care though.
