2013 NIU nursing students (prospective!)

Hello there! I am a prospective NIU Nursing student! I currently have a 3.9 GPA and I got a 110 on the Accuplacer... I have gotten into all my other schools like AU, Bradley, Western IL, Saint Xavier, but I sit here waiting on NIU! Does anybody know when NIU will contact you if you got in (transfer students)? I am very eager! NIU is my goal school and I got into all my other options, but I WANT NIU THE MOST! The suspense is killing me and anybody with more info I would greatly appreciate it! OR anybody else who is applying to NIU for 2013 join in! I'm curious to see what the prospective students are bringing to the table! Chat with ya later.

Lacie, did it give a reason? Or waitlist? I'm so sorry :( How many credits do you have? I've received nothing.

I talked to Connie Uehlken in the department this afternoon - the reason I got turned down was because 12 years ago, I flunked out of Iowa because I was really depressed and not getting treatment. They forced me to turn in that transcript, which brought my GPA down to a 2.8. Also, one of the classes I failed at Iowa was Chemistry, and although I took it again and got an A last fall, they didn't have my completed transcript from last fall and only had the F from 12 years ago to go on. Even though every single grade I've received for the past 10 years has been an A.

So basically 19 year old mentally ill me screwed 31 year old awesome me out of a future. She told me to appeal and I'm going to, but I'm not holding out any hope that it'll make a difference.

Lacie best of luck to you! I hope they reconsider you. Thats not fair to dig so far in the past, you've proved your hard work in the present schooling! :)

I'm taking A&P II right now..and will be completely done in 3 weeks. i went to the school of nursing today, and a lady told me the letters went out 2 days ago.. so maybe tomorrow you will get yours.. i did register for fall classes today.. so now... i can breathe. Good luck to y'all.

Well congrats! I surely hope I get mine tommorow whether it is good or bad. I am in AP2 also! The renal system is no joke!

Lacie, definitely appeal b/c that sounds like just the kind of thing they have appeals for. You're clearly a great student now, that really stinks they didn't have that fall transcript. Don't give up. What district are you in, could you do cc like Waubonsee? I would just leave out that Iowa transcript if you don't need any of the credits as prereqs.
