I just got accepted in to the Nipissing bridge online.. I was doing Athabasca but with the current job situation i decided to stay local and work ft instead of heading out west..
Is there anyone else who applied or is thinking of doing it??
I am almost finished this program and would caution anyone looking to sign up that the school is often late giving clinical information making it difficult to plan your work/home schedule. Also I have also had clinical classes cancelled and had I take them later ( or travel to northbay at my expense with little notice)
Hello fellow nurses! I started my blended RPN-BScN with NU in 2013. It was manageable in the first year as it is "supposed" to be "part time" studies. Having a full time job and two school aged kids, I thought it would have been the perfect way of completing my undergrad. After the first year, the expectation of how many hours you need to put into it all of sudden sky rocket. I am spending more than 40 hours a week, and that is only taking the two courses per semester. Weekly postings - 1-2 chapters from the text book, + minimum of two scholarly journal/peer reviewed articles to reference your weekly posts. Group work, research papers, clinical. They will try to lure you in the program in the first year. Once you realise it takes more time than your schedule allows, it will be too late as you have already invested your hard earned money and precious time and turning back will waste everything. And so I continue with the stress and struggles, as I only have one more semester to do. If I have to do it over again, I would have done it full time in three years. Believe me it will be much better for you and your health and your family. And btw, they can cancel clinical anytime they want, as they have already done so because they were not able to provide us with clinical instructor. With anyone contemplating with going through NU, please think hard and thorough. I used to encourage colleague in my early year at NU, but not anymore, i actually tell them to go full time - the same stress less time in school.
MHO. Goodluck to all who are in the program or thinking of continuing with their studies. I think nurses are all life long learners. Cheers.
PS:
I recently joined this forum as I did not have anything to go by when I first started to research school to do the bridging program. Hopefully this will give someone some kind of inside information and help them to make their decision.
Hey, I applied in the beginning of May and have yet to hear back. I checked on my account under "admission status", but it says no decision is made yet and that they mail the admission decision. I hope they mail the decisions soon since it's almost August.
Check your "My Nipissing" online, looks like they are sending decisions now. Mine has been updated to offered admission :)
