Night and weekend LVN to RN in Southern Ca?

Published

I searched and I've searched some more and I cannot come up with anything so I am turning to the Allnurses forum for help.

All my prereq's are done, the only school that I came across that has mainly and night and weekend LVN-RN program would be MiraCosta in Oceanside in northern San Diego County. I am located in Orange county and don't mind driving but MiraCosta is so impacted that even with a 3.3 GPA and 81% on the TEAS V I could not get in for this year. I am trying to avoid private schools due to the fact my credit is not so great right now, even though I am working on it, and am looking for public community colleges.

Does anybody know of anything out there? Almost everything right now is 2-3 days during the work week and my hospital has me doing a M-F and can only miss one day per week..... Help!

I'd really hate to suggest an investor-owned school with a questionable reputation, but I believe Kaplan College offers a nighttime LVN-to-ASN completion program.

Send me a private message and I'll give info on a school that might what you're looking for. I just don't have the info on me to answet your question. By you messaging me, I won't have to search for this thread and could directly respond.

I'm an LVN in San Francisco. If it were a weekend program, I wouldn't mind doing it in SoCal. Anything for the cause! Any other suggestions?

IIRC, Mount Saint Mary's University used to offer a night/weekend option for the ASN, but their night courses actually start at about 4 pm. If your day shift job ends at 3:30 pm, how can you expect to make it to campus by 4 or 4:30? Impossible in LA traffic. Clinical placements occur on the weekends. If this is still an option though, pricey, right up there with the proprietary schools, but at least MSMU does not have a bad reputation.
