Night nursing school in NJ ????

Published

Hi, anyone know of a school that offers nursing degrees at night/weekends? Even late afternoon would be ok, but I work in the day. I have a BA already. I live in northern NJ.

Specializes in ER/EHR Trainer.

County College of Morris does both a night and weekend program. Good luck.

Specializes in Emergency.

I believe most county colleges have night programs, you'd have to check with your specific one. Mountainside in Montclair, http://mhson.com/, has a night program.

bergen community college in paramus has a night program. it starts in the spring so I believe the application process should be starting soon. check their website. It is a very competitive program to get into.

Christ hospital school of nursing has a night program, but it's a very competetive program, so you might end up waiting a bit... but it's an excellant program!

County College of Morris....

I will be starting their weekend program this fall.

Good Luck Zubi14! You will love the head of the weekend program Kathleen Horan-she was my 3rd clinical professor, she's smart, funny, sweet and an excellent nursing role model.

Thanks Maisy! I'm just a little nervous. I hope I can keep up. Where do you currently work? Did you also do the weekend program?

I am a nurse at St Barnabas ER-I graduated last year and attended the day program at CCM. I won't lie it is a tough program, but you can do it! Make sure you do everything they tell you, do your homework, use the nursing lab, and ask questions. Learn from your mistakes and when you are in clinicals stay with the professor and suck up their knowledge. Good Luck,

Maisy;)

Maisy,

I took all my prereq courses at CCM and will be attending UMDNJ's accelerated BSN program this Fall (2007). One of my choices for employement following graduation is St. Barnabas. Ideally I would like to work in the ER. How do you like it? Is it good for new grads?

The best way to find out is to become a clinical technician on a perdiem basis in er. It helped me tremendously with ekg rhythms, phlebotomy, and just knowing everybody and where things are(a major hurdle when you start) is a big plus and helps you feel more comfortable. It also gives you an opportunity to see what people are doing without the pressure of orienting. I love St B's and had done externships and several clinicals onsite.

good luck, hope this helped.

Essex County College also has an evening program.
