Specialties NICU

Published

Hello everyone,

I have a diploma in nursing from India. I have worked in NICU for five years and med/surg for one year. I got my nclex here and worked in SNF for almost a year.

Having been worked five years with babies I don't feel like working in any other dept. I like babies and wanted to continue working with babies. Now My question is how do I get back to NICU ? The programs I see are either or new grads or for nurses who has experiences in USA. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

See if you can reach out to the units directly to see if you can get past the HR website- do you have any friends that work in that NICU or in that hospital system. Alternatively, you can widen your application search and move to a different state until you get the experience.

Thank you so much for your reply. I guess the only option I have to get back to NICU is to move to a different state and gain some experience as you suggested. I don't know many people here. I do apply almost every day but it's hard to get a job in the hospital. I might have moved by now if I don't a little one. Well now I should consider moving to a different state. Thanks again. Merry Christmas and happy holiday.

Best of luck to you. It's hard. I was lucky when I got out of school- I was only 22 with no attachments and looked forward to having an "adventure" in another state when I moved to get a NICU job.

So true. Finishing school early is always an advantage. Thank you for your wishes.
