Hi,
I am developing an educational letter to parents when their newborn enters our NICU. Do anyone have one willing to share or any specific topics to cover. (touching the newborn, visiting, etc.)
Thanks,
D

There are so many topics to cover, we actually have a guide to the nicu binder we give out, it goes over everything from "who's - who" where things can be found, breastfeeding, kangaroo care, common diagnosis and lingo, visiting and the policy, resources for parents, etc.

There is so much info -binder sounds like a good idea-but time to talk with overwhelmed parents-even in a crazy busy NICU, is invaluable

My hospital gives parents a binder as well, as NICU found that a letter wasn't enough to cover all that really needs to be covered.
Moved to NICU forum. :)

Bilirubin, circumcision (not a priority compared to breathing, eating, etc.), over-stimulation, who can visit, hand washing, no sick visitors, how to talk to baby's siblings, extra concerns with multiples, long-term concerns, car seat testing, immunizations.
Lots to cover. Glad you're NICU is doing this.
