NICU Hopeful - Interview Advice

Published

Hi all! I am a 4th year nursing student that will be graduating next April (woohoo!).

Next week I have an interview for a student nurse position in the NICU!! :yeah: I am hoping that it could possibly lead to a job there once I graduate...

I have been in contact with the Nursing Manager over the past couple of years via email and phone. Seeking education advice and trying to set up a final preceptorship in the NICU. I have been persistent at getting my foot in the door (without being too overbearing of course) and it is finally starting to pay off!

I have read other NICU and NICU interview threads on here along with researching familiar terms etc in order to prepare myself. I have no idea how many people they are interviewing but I know there is only one position. I am just so nervous and would love to hear additional advice!

Would it be appropriate to bring a professional development portfolio?

After the interview should I drop off and thank you card? or a thank you email? I'm afraid she will miss the email since she literally gets around 200 per day..

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this and post a reply!

I'd bring a portfolio and handwrite a thank you note.

Thanks! I brought a portfolio and didn't even have time to send a thank you note because they offered me the job! I start next week :)

Congrats, Canukistani. :)
