I couldn't wait and called admissions at nhti concord. They said they mailed decisions this week and we should know very soon.
I called today.
My appl;ication was not in by the "priority deadline" because I didn't take my NLN until Feb. Apparently my file has been "scored" but no decision has been made. The woman I spoke with made it sound like there is hope, because there will be people who have been accepted and choose to go elsewhere, or can't afford it, or decide not to come, or whatever. She said they have 1 month to get a 100 dollar deposit in, so I guess I'll hear in about a month?
I didn't ask, however, if there are people on the waitlist in front of me... I guess I'm just going to chill out and wait and see.
*sigh*
never apply to just one nursing. That is putting all your eggs in one basket! It is hard to get into nursing. Some are lucky to get in the first time, but not so much any more. And I just wanted to mention something else, nursing colleges DO NOT look at GPA, they will accept a 2.5 just as quick as a 4.0 student.
Acutally having graduated from NHTI a couple of years ago, you are wrong. They DO look at your GPA along with how many classes you have complete, healthcare experience, and references. They do not do things there on a first come first serve basis, it is done on a point system and GPA does count!

I'm glad you corrected this. Of course colleges look at GPA, and of course a 4.0 is going to be held in higher regard than a 2.5 in candidates with otherwise equal qualifications.
really they look at healthcare experience? i work at elliot and i am not sure how they would know that? Maybe my references- maybe that is what helped me besides a good gpa and nln score- and having all my classes done
Waiting, how do you like Elliot? I tried for a long time to get into their NICU but there was just no budget for a new grad. Liz Lichdale(sp?) is a sweetheart.
I don't know how much guidance this will offer, but I went to NHTI for a year in the RN program. When I applied, I called them on a Thursday wishing to apply, took the NLNs on Saturday, and found out the next week that I was in. That being said, I'm male (I've heard we get in easier), I was in the 99% NLN, but my grades from UNH were terrrible. I was in the engineering program there, and hated it (thus a poor grade).
My advice is to be honest and communicate with them. The word on the street is that many of these schools are looking to interviewing the applicants. I think that what some write down on their applications do not adequately describe themselves. If you're willing and eager to learn, portray it to the school, and communicate with them, you'll have a chance.
Once you're in, you start over on the same level as everyone else. Go to class (every day) and study hard. The programs are tough, especially if you have no HC background.
I agree with the above poster. I am just finishing the NHTI program. I will take my final on May 5th and graduate May 15th. Go to class, take good notes, and record the lectures if you can't take good notes. Read if you feel you have to but almost no one does. It is a very tough program. Good Luck.
