Hi Everyone,
I am new to this site...I am a newly qualified nurse and have two job offers one in endoscopy and one position in a nursing home. I am uncertain about which one to take. How much support do Nursing homes give newly qualified? I know I would have a mentor in my NHS job, but not sure about the Nursing home. Also, would the nursing home train me up, just for example, phlebotomy? I applied for both jobs as my NHS is not a permanent post, and with job cuts etc happening Any other advice would be great! Thankyou Bex

Personally I would go for the NHS job as a first job, it very much depends on the nursing home as to what experience you get and support etc, I worked nursing homes after qualifying and found that there was no mentorship, supervision or support.

Dont work in a nursing home. Dead end jobs
Hi, I am worried about having no support in the Nursing home, there attitude seems to be 'your qualified, get on with it', so maybe your right about the NHS

Go NHS Bex, better chance of moving around after 6 months, and you can also join the bank to gain your other basic experience. In a nursing home it's a job but no new experience and very hard to get in NHS at times when you are to move on. good luck on your choice
