  1. They probably cancel to query if the patient have an infection which is causing increase bowel movement, and would wait and traet it before they go ahead with the op unless its an emergency.
  2. Thats true Ginger80, thats what I was told when i did a couple days in theatres. Not too sure about the bowels because they could use special soppository to clear the bowels, like they do for some surgeres. lata
  3. This is a very good forum its like you guys know each other forever you know. i think others would join in but when you open the forum the date make it looks like no one has used it for ages. so they dont bother but hello to you guys. hope i can get to talk some time as well. lata
  4. Am not sure about this but i know other nurses years ago who have done an adaptation program where they work in the hospital for six months, try ringing NMC and see if they have any info on this. If not call round to the uni and see if they will accept you never know, it sounds like you will just be doing a top program isn,t it.
  5. you r right RGN1, when u think about it it's a mad weather not even the weather man or woman can get it right some times. they will say today will be 17 degree cel. but it will feel cooler u go out all wrap up and its 24 degree cel. haa you are burning up. lata
  6. haaaa its not that bad RGN1 you do get a little sun, though it is mostly cold but this summer wasn't too bad it was ok a few hot spells and floods in some places. you are right the renting is a rip off.
  7. HI I think i may be a little late for this thread but just to had, the training here in the UK has gotten pretty hard and even the diploma course has gotten so intense. What has happen is that our training though it is three years it is also 50% theory and 50% practice. The worst thing is that while in practice you are still being asked to do assignment, study for exam or both. Every country do have their own rules for practice. We don't have to be license but we do have to be fit to practice and we have to prove it on a 12 0r 13 wks clinical placements. No newly qualified nurse is being put on their on without a 2wks induction to their area and a mentor for 6 mnths. the Thing is though we may be trained to a specific branch the expectation is extremly high. Thats is why you may need hours because for the 3yrs of our training we put in alot of hours in one branch. Hence the reason we have to make up hours if we would like to come to the state experience or not.Things have change and Its the same all round even now we are moving to an all graduate profession by 2013, and all the nurses who were trained in the 90s are so have to do a degree program, they all have eexperience. Times has change and the profession is changing with it. All university In the UK at present is writting a new carriculum, and the hours will increase and clinical placement has already been increase for some student from 8wks first placement to 12wks. Its not easy though it is three years.
  8. That's true if you have been away for a while you might not be able to get helpas soon as you return, at the moment it is one moths rent and one months deposit. Most agency request reference from your place of work, if you can and if its you alone you could house share, that is about 120 inclusive of council tax a week for a room minimum, and a two bed room house range from 700-900 pounds per month pay own c- tax, one bed room flats 5-7oo. If you know someone here you could visit for a while and weigh your options i think once you are here for 3-6 months you may be able to get a little help. you can get help with your rent from your local council but like silverdragon said you may need to be back for a while. It's best if you come and ask your local citizens advice bereau. They will give you some good leads. If you are a nurse you could come and join an agency assuming you are still on the NMC register and do some shifts agency pays really well, and no ristriction on your shifts. London not bad to live n work. Manhester is ok for living but i heard jobs are hard to find there, but ask some friends if you keep in touch and see what they say. Even if you are a not a nurse alot of hospitals are hiring healthcare assistance money not too bad at present. Like i say agency pays well. hope i was of some help. oh and the weather for the past three years has been very bad between January and February but it is generally cool all year round a little hot spell during may to august, good luck.
  9. Go NHS Bex, better chance of moving around after 6 months, and you can also join the bank to gain your other basic experience. In a nursing home it's a job but no new experience and very hard to get in NHS at times when you are to move on. good luck on your choice
  10. Cheers fusionfire32, i did call them and they have stop doing it. MY friend all so called around and non is available. don't know yet what hours are needed just doing some research before I start the process, i want to see what my options are, for when i do start, i just qualify so i have a little way yet, i did adult so i might do 18 months midwifery next year or specialized in diabetes are respiratory. I am looking at applying to NJ BON are NY BON some time in Nov or so if the process takes so long. Thanks
  11. I agree with that and in USA it may be known as panadol are something else but not after three months of being in a UK hospital, and it's not that they don't know it, they do not understand what you are asking. I am highlighting the poor english, yet still they are not told to do an english exam. understand what am saying silverdragon. not trying to knock anyone but if it goes for one it should go for all if english is not their first language.
  12. HI guys wat silverdragon said is correct, and one can appriciate the way you feel when some EU nurses don't even understand the word paracetamol, however i heard the NMC is looking to generalize ielts to all nurses that does not speak english as a first language, dont know if it's true though. good luck PS. what is NICHE
  13. Thanks silverdragon, I will try that while I wait to see what happen with the retrogression, did anyone confirm about brighton university offering the hours. I will call them tomorrow.
  14. Hi everyone found a thread today about making up hours they were a bit dated but help, I cant find it now so I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that have made up hours for USA, and How can I do it am in london UK. Thanks
  15. ok Franzelin, thats truth you have answered your question. the simple thing is when blood supply is cut of from the brain it result in a stroke. if the part of the brain that control motor sensor is damage then there will be no limb movement or weakness in the limbs which am going to assume that you are calling the muscle weakness. ( google stroke association and go to information it may help clear things up a bit. good luck, I know i tend to understand something when some one shed some light on it, its good though to read and understand you won't ever forget it. Hope i was of some help.
