Good morning, I ask what is the best way after withdrawing the bedpan.

1. When you remove the bedpan taken immediately to the bathroom, cleaned and then wash your hands, gloves and place where the patient back, help you clean your hands and finish the ability, then remove gloves and wash hands and continue with another skill and after place the bedpan must wash hands and put gloves too.

2. When you remove the bedpan is placed on a towel on a chair and then assists the patient with a towel to clean your hands, cover the patient and eliminates the laundry and finish washing the ability bedpan and washing hands.

3. Before removing the bedpan is removed the laundry, is caring for the patient to wash hands, remove the bedpan with the left hand and right hand covers the patient and remove the towel is removed and thrown underpads away, opens the door and goes to the bathroom to wash the bedpan, remove gloves and wash your hands and the ability ends there.

I would like to know what is the best way and the fastest.

I'd also like to know if the time they give one enough to make the 3 skills and find the materials needed, wash hands and put gloves.

Thank you very much for your information

How about get all the towels ( wet and dry towels) ready before hand, wash your hands, put gloves on, put some towels under pt first or use a chuck, put the bed pan under the butt, give some alone time for the pt and the bed pan, remove bed pan, put bed pan on the floor \ under the bed \ dont step in it \ dont kick it, clean the pt up, empty \ clean bed pan, take gloves off, wash hands, pat pt on the back and say ''good job''

Soon there will be no need for CNA/LPN/RN schools d/t YouTube, and a search engine. :(

remove bed pan, put bed pan on the floor \ under the bed \ dont step in it \ dont kick it'

Yeah, don't do that.

I had to run around in donated "old lady" pants, a hospital gown and booties all shift while my pretty white uniform, stockings and shoes got the trash can.

The pan was filled from a nice juicy colostomy

It is very interesting.

why did you guys just make taking a patient off of a bed pan so confusing? lol my head is spinning.

wash hands, glove, place chucks at end of bed, roll pt on side, place bedpan on chux, clean pt, roll pt back over, throw chux away, clean out bed pan and put it back where it belongs, take gloves off and wash hands. have a nice day.

and dont put the bedpan on the floor. thats gross and if JHACO sees you doing that youll have problems.

why did you empty a colostomy into a bedpan? this thread is strange. maybe i am missing something?

OK, You have your gloves on. I'm assuming you are talking about bathing the person and what to do with the used bedpan while you are bathing the person.

1) Allow the pt to use the bed pan in privacy. If you wanted, you could have them naked already, clothing discarded into hamper, with a bath-blanket covering them.

2) Come back when they are finished and roll them to their side, take the bed pan away and roll them back onto their back. (There should be a waterproof pad under their bum if they need to use a bedpan. If not, place one there). Cover them with bath-blanket.

3) Empty bedpan into toilet. Record I&O from graduate if needed. Rinse bedpan, throwout rinse into toilet.

4)Come back to pt, and continue a bedbath. face, arms, chest, legs & perineum last. apply Depends or whatever other incontinent product they need. & then help them get their clothes on, and into a chair.

5) Wheel them to the dining area if needed, or just allow them to sit in the chair. Offer them the TV remote or a magazine/book if needed.

6) Now change the bed linens.

NEVER EVER EVER place linens or bedpans/urinals/graduates on the floor.
