Thread for New York University ABSN FALL 2025 students applicants:

Hi everyone, I made this thread so that those applying to the NYU ABSN Fall 2025

Ask questions about deadlines, prerequisites, GPAs, and more.

Hi everyone,

I applied for the NYU ABSN program for the Fall 2025 priority deadline. Has anyone received any updates?

@salex In order to be approved and to benefit from 1199 CPT you MUST graduate by Spring 2027- I believe if you start in Spring 2026, you will be able to graduate by Spring 2027. Unless I am doing my math incorrectly. We don't take Summer breaks.

I'd have to apply to the Fall 2026 semester because I am currently taking A&P1 and need A&P 2 and Microbiology in Spring of 2026. So I wouldn't be graduating by Spring 2026!

Yes, our classes are mostly in the evenings, so you won't have a class with all 308 students at once.

If you're applying, I recommend looking into the 1199CPT program — that's what's currently covering my tuition since I already maxed out my financial aid from my previous bachelor's degree.

So far, clinical placements have been all around NYC. Keep in mind that no nursing program guarantees a job after graduation, but if you focus on building connections and networking, your chances are definitely higher.

Hey would you be able to explain what you have to do in return since they are covering your tuition and any benefits you are getting right now since you are in the program. I know many of these programs have you work in critical shortage areas for like 2 years so was wondering.

@salex If you are finishing your AP1 this Fall, I would recommend taking AP2 and Microbiology at Portage Online (which is acceptable my the majority of the schools, including NYU)-that's what I did. The good thing is that at Portage, you can take it at your own pace but the least amount of time is 1 month. So, you can still be taking your AP2 and Micro in December and January and definitely apply for Spring 2026 at NYU while taking the pre-reqs. I know tons of people who did that and were still accepted into our program at NYU. If you have questions about Portage Learning,, let me know and I will give you the tea.

I would love that! However, I think the other issue would be most schools now only want in person labs completed. I am planning to apply to other programs so doing it through Portage may not work out.

Hi!

Not sure if there is anyone from CA who has been accepted in this thread, but I received an email this afternoon informing me that they do not believe Meyer's nursing programs meet the educational requirements for licensure in CA.

As a student from California, this has obviously quickly overwhelmed me with stress. I reached out to get more information, and from what I understand, it is up to the discretion of the CA BON to decide whether the program meets the requirements or not, and their opinion can change over time.

I just wanted to see if anyone else got a similar email, and if so, were you able to get anymore information?

Hi! I was wondering if they ever responded back about this. I just got into Spring 2026 and am moving from CA!

Hi!

They informed me that they have had students successfully apply for licensure in California. In some cases, they have provided letters that address any issues the BON may have with NYU's curriculum (for example, micro does not have a separate lab).

I also know people who are licensed in California and completed their degrees at NYU, so I feel it isn't something to be too worried about. I think worst case scenario is that they would have you complete the class again at a local college.

I started this fall! Let me know if you have any other questions 🙂

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted so far! 🥳

I just found out I was accepted to the non-accelerated program. I can't seem to find any info on financial aid offers. Is anyone else in the same boat?

Hi! I applied to the Spring 2026 program and also non-accelerated. Still waiting to hear back. How many pre-reqs did you have left to complete when you applied / when you started at NYU?

Hi! I had three left (micro, A&P, and gen chem). Working on wrapping those up now.

I hope you hear back soon!!

Thank you! I appreciate it. How are those classes at NYU? Are you taking both A&P 1 and 2 at NYU?

The workload and stress have been a lot, as they are all pretty demanding classes. I have the same professor for both A&P and micro, and we constantly have assessments in both classes that often are scheduled in the same week. The material itself isn't extremely difficult for those courses, but they require a lot of self-teaching and good study habits. Chem has been difficult for me and other classmates, but my professor is very supportive and designs the course to help us succeed.

Many of us second-degree students are in the same courses. Some are working on more prerequisites and some have less. That is to say, the three I am taking are manageable (although admittedly stressful), and some of my classmates are successfully managing even more classes. Many of us also work part-time.

It helps that we all have similar schedules because at least we have each other to lean on when throughout the rough parts of the semester, haha.

Also, A&P 1 & 2 are combined into a single course, so we go through material very quickly and we are responsible for learning a good amount of it outside of class.

thank you for taking the time to give such a helpful, detailed response! Super helpful to read. Sending you positive vibes as you finish the semester strong in those classes.

What was your background before switching careers and entering this program? I come from accounting / finance background and biggest concern for me will be the learning curve in how to study differently in nursing school, just given a different skillset needed and overall different subjects.
