SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program 2014-2015

Hey did you apply for SUNY Downstate 2014 program? I'm about to take the TEAS for it…super nervous. Hows the process going for you so far?

I applied in November and the process has been okay so far. The wait is killing me! The TEAS is stressful because of the timed element - have you been taking the practice tests? Remember that Downstate only looks at your math and reading scores!

I recently sent in my application and haven't heard a thing. Did they send an email confirming they received everything and it's being reviewed or am I supposed to just hope for the best?? Whenever I email them with questions their responses are so vague...

Yeah, they can be pretty vague... Did you fill the application online? They should confirm that everything has been submitted

Yea I did the application online and then emailed in my prereq grid. I've been reading threads from previous years and I'm not too confident. It seems like you need really high scores and extracurriculars to even get wait listed.

Not yet but I'm applying to Pace and NYU as well for next fall. Downstate is my first choice but you got to have back ups

Hi all!

I just submitted my application last Friday. We'll see how it all goes. Of course ABSN programs are really competitive so I'm also applying to Rutgers and NYU. Maybe Seton Hall too? I have to look in to that a little more. I just found out about Seton Hall's program.

I have a quick question for you all. When you check the status of your application what does it say? For mine, today everything disappeared except for the payment bar and reading and math skills (TEAS) bars. The payment bar is checked off but the TEAS ones aren't. I'm a little confused since we were required to upload our TEAS scores on to the online app just like our transcripts, resume, etc. So... If they got all of the other stuff, why not the TEAS? Or was I supposed to send my TEAS results directly to the school from ATI testing? Sorry for all the questions, I keep re-reading the app instructions on the SUNY website and all it says is that you need to submit TEAS scores. Doesn't say if the upload of your proctored assessment is all you need or if oyu need to send an official something from directly from ATI.

My checklist says the same thing. Downstate told me they are having technical difficulties and to just look at the website we used to send in the application. If you uploaded the scores with your application you should be fine

Thanks! I figured they would be getting a ton of submissions since we're getting close to the deadline. I was finally able to get in touch with someone at the admissions office and was given the same technical difficulties answer. Makes sense.

Thanks for clarifying about the website. I wondered where the rest of the checklist had gone.

I applied online and my application was complete Dec. 26. It says it is still in the screening stage. I have really good grades especially in my sciences. I already have a BA and an MA. I have a background working in mental health and have worked as a nursing assistant in a hospital. Still, seeing as how competitive it is I feel it could go either way.
