SUNY Downstate Accelerated BSN Program 2014-2015

U.S.A. New York

Hey Everyone!

I figured I should start a new thread for the upcoming round of decisions. How are you all feeling? What are your backgrounds? Have you applied to other schools? My application is in the review progress, so my fingers are crossed and hopes are high!

Looking forward to the conversation :)

Does anyone know the average teasv scores for downstate?

I have also tried contacting admissions a few times, but it seems like I need to send the same email multiple times and specifically ask for a response/confirmation in order to actually get one. I didn't realize we could still access our applications, so thanks for that info! I finally see where it says that my application is in the screening process.

I think I read somewhere that decisions could possibly be sent out on a rolling basis? Has anyone heard anything yet?

Does anyone know how much registration for the TEAS test should cost? I logged on to register and it said $115, but I thought I had read that it was somewhere around $50. How much did you all pay? I just submitted a last-day application so still have to register!

I paid $70 (a month in advance) to take it at Monroe College. Maybe it depends on how soon you register and where you take it? Hope that helps!

i paid $115 and registered about 5 days before i took the test at a testing site in NYC

I though the last day you could take the TEAS exam was January 15th. I hope you take it in time.

I think you can put an "intended" date of taking the TEAS, but it will delay the review process...

I registered for the TEAS about a month in advance and took it at a testing site in queens. Registration cost me about 100. I called admissions yesterday and I was told since they're having technical difficulties they extended the deadline to thursday jan 16th at midnight.

I know it will probably delay my application/won't be favorable to take it late but I figure it's worth a shot since they do say they review late applications on a space-available basis and at least I got the rest of my application in. I wasn't really planning on applying because I have heard mixed things about the program but I just got accepted to Binghamton and freaked out about possibly having to move so far away from the city … so it was a very last-minute decision! Thanks all for the info, I guess $115 isn't unusual after all.

If it helps at all, my friend is in med school at suny upstate in syracuse and spent some time taking her pre-reqs at Binghamton and she really liked the school! She is also a city girl and extremely wary of the cold weather. Since you would only be there for around a year and a half, why not? Everyone is different though. And, of course, Brooklyn has it's own significant advantages. Good luck to you!

Thanks! The idea is definitely growing on me a bit as, like you said, the program is only a year, and I have heard almost exclusively good things about it. It is also so cheap - the other place I applied is Columbia, so I know it's gonna be hard if I get in to turn down that difference in tuition!

I sent in my application like a week before the deadline and it is still in screening status. I took my TEAS for $115 as well in an institution in Manhattan. I only applied to Downstate so far.. I'm contemplating on applying to Pace but the tuition is around $50,000. Good luck to everyone! Please keep us posted on any acceptances!
