moving to NYC - please help!

  1. My husband has been offered a position in Manhattan, so it looks like we will be moving! I have been looking at several nursing school websites, but I have no idea where in New York these schools are. I know absolutely nothing about the geography of neighborhoods of New York. If I am going to be living in Manhattan, where are the closest nursing schools?? I dont want a long commute!

If you live in Manhattan the nearest schools are: BMCC, Hunter, Philips Beth Israel, Pace U, NYU and Columbia U. They are all in Manhattan and are easy to reach no matter what part of Manhattan you live on.

If you live somewhere in the city, you can get anywhere in the city within an hour. So you should check schools in Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens, and the Bronx.

I live on the upper west side and actually attended a nursing school in NJ. It was about a 40 min drive to class and 20-30 min drive to clinicals and it's reverse commute so not much traffic. I think the programs in the city are much better, but just wanted to let you know that you have a lot of options, but check out the wait times for each school---some are 2-3 years!!!! Good luck and let me know if I can help!
