I ended up transferring out of the TAMUCC eLine program and into a more supportive, local, hands-on program. I was tired of teaching myself everything and having poor communication with the professors and advisor. My grades were excellent (all A's) but I still felt like I was lacking practical application since all I was doing was reading textbooks and modules. The advisor (Rita Rushing) had only secured 2 clinical sites in the Houston area during the 2 years I was involved in the program. They are at Womens Hospital and the VA Hospital. There was a 6 month delay in placing me for my first clinical at Womens Hospital. She told me I would have to travel to Corpus to complete most of my other clinicals and could not guarantee placement or a timeframe. After seeing how a "real" nursing program does clinicals, I realize that the TAMUCC clinicals with a preceptor were complete crap. Also, it would take months to receive grades on assignments and the feedback was minimal. I would not recommend the program. However, if this is the only way you can fit a nursing program into your life, then it can be done. Lots of eliners have graduated and passed the NCLEX.

My husband has been offered a position in Manhattan, so it looks like we will be moving! I have been looking at several nursing school websites, but I have no idea where in New York these schools are. I know absolutely nothing about the geography of neighborhoods of New York. If I am going to be living in Manhattan, where are the closest nursing schools?? I dont want a long commute!

I am in Houston and took the patho class through TAMU-CC online. So far its been wonderful and I highly recommend it!

You must complete your pre-reqs before you are allowed to take any of the eLine nursing classes. If you are close to finishing pre-reqs, you can apply and receive conditional admission. I applied a few months ago and was accepted on conditional admission. I am finishing up 2 pre-req classes for this current Spring semester and I will start eLine in the summer.

JaxiaKiley, I am not sure about the ADN program from DelMar, but for the BSN program from TAMU-CC you will pay the normal Texas resident tuition you would for any public Texas university. SeekingNur, I am in Houston too and will begin the eLine program this summer. There are not any clinical sites here yet, but they are working on a couple. The closest site established is in College Station.

I would suggest taking the pathophysiology class online through TAMU-CC. It has been fairly easy and enjoyable, and the professor is awesome. All the tests and quizzes are online so you will not need to travel to Corpus at all.

Thanks! Yeah, they have been trying to get something set up with MD Anderson in the Med Center and also NE Hospital in Humble, but nothing is definite yet. The eLine advisor strongly advised that I go talk to hospitals near me to see if they are interested in the program. All I need is a willing nurse to follow around and to teach me! According to Rita Rushing (eLine advisor), there is a lot of liability and paperwork to be done, so this is why there has been difficulty finding an accomadating hospital. The worst case scenario is that I will have to travel to College Station to take care of the clinicals. It's about and 1.5 hrs from me. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Hi! I am beginning the eLine BSN program this summer. The eLine advisor said there isnt anything set up yet in Houston, although they are working on it. I will be visting hospitals close to me (NW Houston) and try to help speed up this process! I dont know much about the coursework yet since I havent started, but there are a few others on the board who are well into the program. Search for eline on the board and you should be able to find them! Let me know if you have any more questions

You could look into the eLine program. The classes are online and can be done at your own pace/schedule. Clinicals are set up at a hospital near you. You could do either an ADN with Del Mar community college or BSN with TAMU-Corpus Christi. for more info: http://www.eline.tamucc.edu Hope to help!

I've officially been accepted into the eLine program!! :balloons: Now I need help setting up clinical sites and finding a preceptor!! The advisor said there hasnt been a lot of progress setting things up in Houston and the closest site would be in College Station. Anyone else in Houston doing eLine?? Can anyone think of places in Houston who are very willing to work with students?

Thanks for the reply, but I couldnt find anything on those sites. I did an internet search too and came up with nothing as well. I must not be searching corrrectly! If anyone has completed a CNA class in Houston, please let me know where! Thanks!

I'll contact the advisor sometime this week to verify, but I was hoping someone would know offhand if there are any clinical sites in Austin for the TAMU-CC eLine program?? I am considering a move to Austin from Houston, so this is an important factor in that decision! I know that Texas Tech has a clinical sites in Austin, but I am not a CNA so I cannot apply to their program. I tried finding out where the CNA classes were in Houston, but didnt have much luck.

I am in Houston and would like to become a CNA before I enter a BSN program. Anyone know of any programs/schools? How much they cost? How long it takes? Thanks!

Hi! i applied to both a couple months ago. I dont know the address offhand, but I knwo its listed either on their websites or on http://www.applytexas.org. I applied to both schools online. A lot of schools can send transcripts electronicaly, or maybe you can request the transcripts in person and deliver them to the nursing schools yourself? (I am not sure how feasible this is for you, depending on where your previous school was located and how far you live from the med center!) Best of luck!!

Already taken those! I was a bio major for 3 years, then switched to psyc my last year so it seems like I have taken every science/psyc class available. I asked an advisor and she didnt have any suggestions either, ah well! Thanks for trying :)
