I am new visitor. Staff nurse in CCU/ICU of community hospital. currently thinking about going to CRNA school. I read enough information about how difficult it is to get in. I am ready to start the long and hard journey of this career. Been eight monthes since I started CCU/ICU. already submitted applications to several school that do not require one year experience of 1 year before submitting applications. want to experience in advance what will be the hard and difficult feeling like. :wink2:

I would really like to answer your question but for the life of me I cannot understand gibberish. Could you please ask the question in english again?
thank you for your nice reply.
Are you a SRNA? Are you in the school?
I called to one of anesthesia schools to ask about whether I can apply just with 8 months of experience CCU/ICU. One guy (= assistant director) was not recommending for this year. But when I was talking to a program director, I was told " go head submit the application and see what happen". I am not quite positive about year. Like she told me I just want to see what is going to happen.
I almost finished my application file. This applications process makes me so nervous in every moment.
Tell me how can I relax and not worry about too much about this application process? Were you about same feeling ?
If you had interviews, I want to know how was it like? stressful,,, or nightmare. give me some idea how can I prepare well in case I get an invitation for interview.
Thank you.
I am an SRNA. If they said submit your application go ahead and submit it. Whether you will get an interview or not is a different story. My recommendation is to apply at several different schools and do your research ahead of time, they are going to want to know why you want to attend their program and if you tell them something like. "we'll I only live 30 minutes away" that ain't going to get you in. They want to know what attracts you to their program such as non competing with residents good regional expereince, 100% pass rates on boards, stuff that the program prides itself on and things that also attract you to the program. None of my interviews was ever based on hemodynamics they were all get to know you type questions, but there are programs that will grill you on clinical knowledge. The school I accepted to consisted of a 10 minute phone interview.
Good luck

Hoop is right. Many programs are indeed different. Mine was one of the clinical-oriented he mentioned. No fluffy get-to-know you questions....All scenario based, "what would you do" situations, and in-depth pharm/physiology. Interview given by current SRNAs in the program, CRNAs, department heads, and anesthesiologists.
Be aware of what you are walking into as the preparation for different programs and interviews are indeed......different (for lack of better word).
thanks people.
My best advice is to call the program and talk to the director and also talk to the secretary they usually will answer your questions and also tell you what type of references they like to see such as references from CRNAs etc.

Hey Jin,
Don't be too hard on yourself about getting accepted with only months of ICU experience. I got invited to an interview last week, but after much thought I contacted the school and decided that I want more experience before interviewing. I know how you feel -- it is very stressful to apply and to do the interview process. Don't kick yourself if another year of experience will save your sanity! And by the way, diversity among applicants is good too. :)

The schools that I applied do not require GRE. I need to be certified on CCRN and prepare for GRE. also building up one or more years of experience will make me more competitive hopefully. There are a couple of things that I need to be ready before applying to schools.
Even in my unit, many nurses think about this career. But I have been seeing only a few accepted nurses. Not easy way. but somedays I will get there. please God be with me.
