hello im tina i have been an lpn for nearly two years i am working on my bsn. i was wondering if anyone has done microbiology i have been study this subject for a while does anyone have any suggestions on how to study this subject.

I took micro about a year ago and there is alot of detailed info! I think it also depends on your instructor as to how in depth they will teach. My instructor was a MT so she focused the teaching more toward the medical field- thank God!! I studied often for that class- making flash cards really helped me to remember what microorganisms did what reaction to what medium, etc. It does get interesting from a diagnosis point of view. Hope this helps.

hi, tinsegers!

take advantage of using the microbiology websites listed on this post:

there is also a microbiology sticky thread on the pre-nursing student forum (https://allnurses.com/forums/f198/) where you can post and link in with other students who are also taking microbiology, ask questions, discuss common problems you might be having and get help.

here are some websites on how to study that you may also find helpful:

Flashcards definitely work very well. I remember making up my own acronyms for things I had to remember. There was sooo much memorization in that class for things. It's a tedious class and you should just stay as focused as you can to get through it. Another great option is taping the class lecture if you can. I would then rewrite my notes. That helped me tremendously. Throughout the entire class, take good notes, rewrite them, read them over and read every handout. Stay focused, that class is boring, imo:)
