Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Okay this summer is the start of my college years. Looking back now REALLY wishing I hadnt waited so long. My end goal is to be rn for obstetrics. Im planning on working my way up. This fall I take my cna class and mean while knocking out classes I need for lpn. My question is...is it to much to take Anatomy and Physiology 1 ... development psy and my nurse27 class.. the schdule will be... tuesdays psy 2 to 5 then 5:30 to nurse aide class until 9:30 that includes labs then thursdays 5:30 to 9:30 only having the nurse aide class the anatomy is online lecture but labs will be on saturdays 9 to 3... Its very imporant to me to keep on top of things and I really want to knock these classes out of the way with out over loading it with study time because I do have small children... THANKS!!!!

I am in the same situation as you. I am starting a CNA/Health Care Aide course May 2nd.

I use to say I wanted to end up in something like obstetrics. The truth of the matter is you really dont know untill you have tried everything. Who knows you may end up loving LTC or the ER....

Any way tackle what you can.

I have 2 children and a husband (whom I call my 3rd child) I am just taking things slowly.

I am going to do the CNA this summer.

Then Ill start upgrading in August. I am going to upgrade everything I'll need for the BScN program. However we live in a small town. My husbands job is here so I can't just pack up and move to the city for my education so I will take the LPN course in the Fall of 2012.

Then once my kids are old enough I'll move to the city. We are only 2 hours from the city so Its not like I'll miss my husband too much! hahaha

I am doing the CNA right now so that I can pay for my LPN courses with out feeling like a leech on my husband.

So as you can see I am takign it easy.

Ill be a CNA in a few months. Then LPN in about 3 years and finaly after 6 years of hard work and dedication an RN.

Think about everything. Finance, your kids, work, YOU time... It might be hard to balance it all but if your are willing im sure you can get done what you put your mind too.

Good Luck! :)

Thank you so much!! I want to take my time in ways and in other ways I want to do as much as I can stay on top of it and get it over with. I will take my teas test in mid Nov for lpn then apply for the program. Im working on the general classes for it now and requirments you need to apply then fall I will be taking the nursing aide..which Im really excided for. I dont want to over load myself also want to have my time and family time...but I really want to work work work.. I feel like I do it now while my children are younger then when their older we will all be well adjusted and I can learn to fit everything.. work, kids, activities and me. Thanks Again!! I already love this website. GOOD LUCK to you as well!!!! :)

Specializes in LTC/Rehab.

I heard from the 'pre-nursing forum' that if you could avoid taking your bio's during the summer then do so. A&P and micro are considered some of the 'harder' prereq's out there. So maybe you should just wait until fall to take that class. Other than that, I wish you the best in whatever you choose!

Hi, sounds like you are taking the same path I am. I did my CNA a little over a year ago, found a job I love and still taking the science classes for the LPN program. Where I live everything transfers to the RN mobility program and it is only a year long and can be done while working as a LPN. Good luck!

Yeah the bio isnt until fall ... this summer Im knocking out comp classes and ite class I need for the lpn program. Im going to wait to do anatomy until spring. Im going to take basic human bio which is also needed for lpn but anatomy is needed for rn... however one of my good friends have taken both and she told me that basic human bio is like a step before anatomy... THANKS everyone!!!! Same to you guys good luck!! Ive heard that by 2020 the united states will be around 100,000 nurses short...cant wait to be a cna and start my part in helping people and even better when schooling is all finished up...
