I would speak with the doctor about what the blood counts should be to hold the child out of gym. I had a student with ITP last year and if his PLTS went below 55 he was out. The doctor agreed to provide me with blood work every month, and I wrote up a care plan based on that, with the order, and kept in touch with the athletic department.
Good luck!

Hi All!! I have a new student starting this year with hemophilia. I don't know his specifics yet, I'm meeting with his mom tomorrow but I want to start preparing. I am curious of any tips and ideas for preparing for this student. I am considering holding an in-service with his teacher and the PE teacher just to make sure they understand the disorder, any other recommendations?
