I start my cna class on Monday. I have to wear my scrubs to all classes and internship but they dont say what kind of shoes I should wear? I want to pick up a new pair of converse sneakers would that be ok for the class setting?

Dosen't matter what you wear, if your not used to all that standing and walking your feet are going to hurt. I went through two pairs of shoes before I realised it was the nature of the work not the shoes that had my feet and back sore! I setteled on white adidas superstars.

You'll have to try different shoes out and see how they feel. I like Easy Spirits. A lot of people swear by Crocs and I can see why because they're easy to clean and you can get them wet when giving a shower, but I don't think they're comfortable at all. Then there are a lot of people who just wear running sneakers. I wouldn't go out and buy anything expensive just for clinical unless it's something you can wear outside of work too, just in case you change your mind about what kind of shoe you want.
Oh and generally you should be wearing all white shoes, or mostly white shoes.

I would encourage you to not spend any money on shoes until you are sure you know the details of any dress code the school has -- some schools are v. particular about what you can and can't wear to clinical re: shoes, jewelry, make-up, etc. I have a feeling there's probably a dress code there somewhere (student handbook?) that's a lot more specific than "scrubs".
I got a pair of mostly white with a little black new balance training shoes. The lady at the shoe store said new balance was what all the local nurses wear. They were 18 dollars off to so what was nice^^
Sounds like a good choice. I doubt your clinical site and future workplace will have a problem with those. And if they do, well you have a new pair of shoes for the gym or running errands or whatever instead of some hideous looking rubber clogs that should never be seen in public.

I wear Dansko, or Alegria and LOVE them !!! Super comfy - you could stand on your feet all day and not feel pain or achy muscles ... They're a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. Check out that shoe catalog, "Footsmart". I have ordered online through them and they're quick and easy ...
Best of luck to you !! Fingers crossed, I'll be in nursing school soon !!

I wear my Alegria for its comfort and support. You would want to choose a shoe that bring your feet great comfort for long hours of standing. The best way is to try them on and you can be your own judge. like elkpark suggested, find out the dress code for the shoes first. some may require enclosed shoes. If so, do check out Alegria's professional work line. http://www.alegriashoes.com/categories/Professional/Debra/

Can't go wrong with a pair of white sneakers. (I would buy all-white sneakers, though) Just make sure they are comfortable to move around in all day.

You just need some all white athletic shoes. You don't want mesh or canvas. You need something more waterproof but you don't need expensive shoes for clinicals.
NOW, when you start working, take your first paycheck and go out and buy the best shoes you can afford. Your feet are your livelihood and the are irreplaceable. My mom was a CNA. She is now a disabled CNA with feet and back problems. Everyone told her to buy good shoes but she never did.
Nike Shocks or Nike Air Max are the best. I am 300 lbs. and my feet, knees, and back never hurt from standing or walking.
Buy good shoes. Your future depends on it.

I'm partial to Skechers.
Don't buy white shoes once you're working or you will have to clean them quite often.
Your white shoes will soon be every shade of brown and yellow with a trickle of red here and there.
