Does anybody know about American University of Health Sciences in Long Beach? My sister is planning to go there, I know that its accredited by the CA BRN, but someone I know who dropped out of the program said to leave it as a last resort. She said the staff is unprofessional, and inconsistent, and teachers are always leaving last minute? Anyone know anything about this school?

If it is a new school, then normally they do not have accreditation. They may have approval from the BRN for their program. But they need to be followed for several classes to check on their NCLEX passing rate for one as welll as some other items that are followed. Usually three years or more of operating to get the accreditation.

Hi!
They are super expensive (80k), and they are not CCNE or NLNAC accredited. I would also leave this as a last resort. Have you thought about California Baptist University in Riverside? They have regional accreditation as well as CCNE.
Hope this helps!

DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!! i am currently a nursing student here and its not worth spending all your money. The administration are never considerate about their students. Each unit is $542.19 and each quarter you'll be taking about 15 units for 10 quarters. With the high amount of tuition you would think that they have good loan options, but they dont. The only company we utilize is sallie mae. We are not affiliated with any other loan companies like most other schools are. They don't have CCNE accreditation so basically our credits wont transfer. So if we ever decided to go for a masters program more than likely we wont get accepted. On top of all the tuition that we pay, we have to pay for other stuff like ATI. ATI is a supplemental tool that will supposedly help us with our NCLEX exams, but i dont feel it works. My class paid around $500 for it but i believe now they are charging about $1000. I would rather much spend my money on a kaplan review. Another thing about this school i dont like is that they change their rules all the time. They newly just implemented a policy that we must pass our exit exam with a 90% or we cannot graduate. 90% is a little extreme. There is a high turn over rate of faculty and staff which obviously means that their must be something wrong with administration. Also, a lot of good instructors have left because they are also fed up with the school. Although we may have good instructors now, they dont compare to the good ones that we had before. So after saying all this...let me see it again...DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!!
Oh my goodness mpf0life thanks soo much. I was going to attend this school this March 29th and I had a bad feeling about it. It was a weird feeling I got from the place. The first red flag was when I walked into the lobby there was a lady arguing with her husband about making a mistake about attending the school. The second red flag was the front glass door that is locked. Third that same day was that they never gave me a tour of the facility. Thanks for saving me $100,000 dollars!

I applied to this school for the fall 2010 semester... the application/interview/acceptance process is ridiculous. All they want is to waste your time and money. It's anywhere from 80k++++ for tuition. The staff is RUDE beyond belief, (the admissions lady -------- was so rude, commenting that she couldn't believe I had no clinical experience and I wanted to be a nurse, making rude comments regarding my current job and school status, couldn't even offer me advise on financial aid, instead refers me to some dude who wants to charge me an arm and leg for advise... what kind of school does that?!?!?!) I was also told that they were going to offer CHEMISTRY AND MATH in the fall from ------ herself during my first info session with her. 3 days pass, and I went in spent $75 for the application fee, and got a phone call 2 days later from -----, (at 7:30pm...weird someone is still working in admissions that late) stating... " I don't know why you applied to come to our school you dont have all your pre requisites, you shouldn't have applied, we don't offer those classes" I was livid, and at that moment I realized, this school was not accredited for a reason. They don't have there ducks in a row. Communication is lacking, professionalism is lacking, and on that note.... HAS ANYONE EVER GRADUATED FROM HERE?!?!?!?! They have like 90 students total supposedly... Id like to speak to some of them, and when asked if I could I was turned down... what a GREAT school.... I WANT MY $75 back!!!!!!!!
stay away from this school if you want to succeed......
