Last night at work , I heard a gentleman talk about a new CRNA school opening in Asheville, NC. HE dropped the patient off so quick...I didn't have time to inquire.
Does anyone know about this?

Try calling the COA number from the AANA website. I did that to find out about a proposed school in Wisconsin a few years ago and they were able to give me info if there was work on a school. It's a long process and hits quite a few roadblocks.....

Yes, it is true. I'm not sure if it's UNC-Ashville but there definately is a new CRNA school. Memorial Mission Hospital Systems will be the main clinical site. Mary Karlet, PhD, CRNA will be the program director. I'm not sure when the first class will be interviewing. That will be 6 programs for my great state!

Speaking of new schools, theres also going to be one opening up in utah in the next few years. The name of the school it will be affiliated with is Westminster.. Seems to be lots of new schools popping up these days.

My step-father works @ Western Carolina University in Sylva, NC. He claims the program will be starting there but is unsure as to when.

There will be a new program in the southeast as well! My best friend is an affiliate of the program and has recruited some faculty and planned clinical sites. She has asked me not to announce the details of the program to others at this time. Interviews were completed in July for the first class and students were accepted. The program will be made public in fall '06 with the matriculation of the second class, as I understand it.
I can't wait to formally announce this new program to you guys!

Western had a CRNA program-- great one.
Western also offers an ABSN option for students with previous BS/BA degrees who want to go into nursing.
Check the website at Western Carolina University. You'll be surprised at what you find.
