So I just recently got my RN licence and am looking to do something different, off the beaten path other than apply for a job at the hospital down the street from me. I'm looking to do something out of the ordinary along the lines of travel nursing, being a nurse on a cruise ship or something cultural. Anyone have any suggestions? Or anyone with personal experience that would be willing to talk about it would be phenomenal!

Moving to hawaii and failing to get a job here opened my eyes. Everyone I met. So many different cool people. So many people hold nurses to such a high level of respect. I applied for 12+ hospitals spanning over 7 different states

I love that you're excited about the world of nursing possibilities that are out there! But (you knew it was coming, right?) in order to be considered for those 'interesting' and 'out of the ordinary' jobs you will need to be fully competent as a nurse. We all know that nursing school is not sufficient; you will need actual clinical experience to become competent. You'll probably need LOTS of experience to be able to function in a role that does not provide direct supervision/backup or qualify for a travel nursing gig.
Don't lose sight of your dreams - just realize that you probably need some additional preparation before you can achieve them. There are enormous opportunities to experience 'cultural' practice right here in the US, so you may want to focus on working in a setting that serves a diverse population.
I hope you get one of those you applied to!
