I passed the NCLEX RN exam way back 2008. It is just now that i am able to get a SSN since i just got here from Manila Philippines by virtue of my employer's petition. Upon conversation with the California Board of Nursing, for me to get a RN license they are requiring me to submit again my transcript, diploma, a new live scan and a new license application by education. Question is...will they be charging me again a fee equivalent to that of a first time exam application or do i just have to submit the documents? Next question is ..how long does it usually take the BON to issue the license? I hope anyone who had the same experience can answer this query. SALAMAT in advance. Thanks.

I have not had the same experience, but I have done quite a bit of reading on the California BON site since I endorsed there from another state. Your application components and fees are good for one year. After that, you're starting over. They have wait times listed on their site, as well. Typically, it's about a three month wait for your license to be issued after everything has been submitted correctly and approved. Bumps in the road can extend that time significantly ...so follow all instructions carefully.
Good luck!

If you're gonna submit again your application, yes you will have to pay for the application fee. Plus you'll have to get your live scan as well, that's a different pay in a live scan site. Just make sure that you let the BRN know that you already passed the NCLEX-RN. You don't wanna be one of those who are required to take courses again.
