I am open to as many pointers as well. I am also a new RN as of Aug 2010. I am a little overwhelmed with getting the right resume in because there are so many new nurses competing for jobs. In the northwest it seems like there is way more nurses than positions. This is very frustrating due to the fact it took me so long and I worked so hard to become a RN. Like I said I am welecome to any feed back.

Greatly apprciated

they have resume samples on line, just for nurses. I would recommend a cover letter specific to the position applying for (my current boss stated that she remembered me from clinical when she saw me, she interviewed me because of my resume and cover letter.) good luck.

Don't overlook the value of anything you've done, even for a short period, that is healthcare related. I did some volunteer work with emotionally disturbed children, did flu clinics, had a non-nursing job at a hospital, trained adults adjusting to disabilities for office work in a vocational rehab program and was an aide in an adult home while I was in college years ago. Everything I could put in the resume that might help. I have gotten my foot in a couple of doors thanks to it, and now I'm getting some experience.

Focus on things from your past experience that sounds like something a nurse might do or a quality a nurse might have.

with you resume, do remember to include a cover letter and once you have an interview...send a thank you note. it improves your chances of landing a job. only include your clinicals that are relevant to the job you're applying for. for example, don't include your ob rotation for an telemetry job. include any seminars, professional nursing organizations, and volunteer work. include your gpa if it's a good one. try to demonstrate your flexibility in your resume and your ability to multitask, i.e., balance work, school, and clubs. good luck. :)

Thank you so much for all of your response.iappreciate it. :))

-i'll try it.. :)

-im excited to have a new job and i hope to have one:wish me luck.. :))

If you want to add some suggestion.pls do add it..thank you. :))
