New RN Grad advice

Published

Hello all! I recently graduated with my ADN and am taking NCLEX in a few weeks. I am hoping to get some advice on how to best begin my career in nursing. I haven't really enjoyed any of my clinical in the hospital setting ( especially Medsurg) and don't think it's for me.  I was thinking possibly dialysis or infusion. However, I am hearing that it's best to get some experience in Medsurg by way of a residency because it would be very hard to transition into the hospital setting if I found I didn't like dialysis or infusions.  Does anyone have advice for me either way? I am scared of making the wrong decision and either hating my job or worse making myself undesirable to employers.  I appreciate any and all advice ?

Try dialysis. No nurse that I've worked with has ever had trouble transitioning to a hospital bedside role if they want. Experience is experience.  You can also be working on your BSN if your local hospitals require it
