New patient less than 1 hr-I'm new to MDS

Published

We had a patient admitted to our facility from the hospital. Within 1 hr it was clear that she was not stable and she was sent back to the ER where she was placed in OBSERVATION. Within 24 hrs she was discharged back to our facility. I'm not sure which date to use as her admission date.

Check with your supervisor to make sure you have to do an assessment. you won't even get paid for the day. we used to be able to do an assessment, left before completed and everything was basically dashed. even a short five day isn't short anymore. if they weren't mcr or mgd care, i don't think one is needed before day 14. anyone else? sps

Entry and carry on. Be sure she was OBSERVATION status only- otherwise it changes the requirment.

Do an Entry on the date she entered your facility.

You don't have to do a D/C Assessment if she was not admitted to the hospital. ;)
